Last year’s newly formed Atlantic division was headlined by the 2012-13 Eastern Conference Champion Boston Bruins and the finally-turned-east Detroit Red Wings. The Bruins did in fact lead the pack but trailing right behind was the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens. The Red Wings were able to inch into the playoffs leaving Toronto, Ottawa, Florida, and Buffalo on the outside looking in.
Boston and Montreal eliminated their respective first round opponents setting up a second round matchup for the ages. Montreal did in fact come out on top and were crowned Atlantic division champs. Price, Subban, and the rest of the Habs will look to make a splash once again in a division that has overcome numerous changes within each team.
