The Avalanche won its fifth game of the season in a shootout Thursday night after defeating the New York Rangers 4-3. It was their second straight shootout victory following two losses in the tiebreaker where they went scoreless on five opportunities.
Matt Duchene scored the first goal of the game and added an assist while linemate Alex Tanguay scored the shootout deciding goal to go along with his team leading 7th tally. The Avs won for the first time this season when trailing after 40 minutes of play. It was the response they were looking for after a series of hard practices and meetings with Coach Roy following the blowout loss at Nassau Coliseum two nights ago.
