Colorado started the year off right in front of a rowdy Pepsi Center crowd. The boys in burgundy fought through a very quiet game offensively and came away with their fifth shootout victory of the season after defeating Edmonton 2-1. It was the first meeting against the Oilers this season and it comes while the Oilers are in the midst of a 12-game road losing streak dating back to early November.
The Avalanche won its second game in a row and fifth in its last seven games to climb back to .500 through 38 games. But for the Avs, it’s not about their record to date right now. The focus lies on what’s to come.
