Nashville has the second best record in the NHL? No problem. Erik Johnson is out for the foreseeable future? Big deal. Semyon Varlamov starts his 15th game over the last 16 contests? No biggie.
The Avalanche welcomed the Predators to the Pepsi Center in the second of a home-and-home series tonight and walked away with a 3-0 shutout win behind Varlamov’s fourth shutout of the season.
Colorado received goals from Max Talbot and Jarome Iginla before Gabe Landeskog sealed this one with an empty-netter at 18:49 of the third period. It was the first victory over the Predators this season and the thirteenth win in front of the home crowd for the Avs.
