Well lets get this news out of th way. Antropov as been re-signed for 2 years, a little over $4 mil. Not sure what to think. Clearly this puts him as a top 6 forward and his expectations have gone up. His problems have always been injuries. It's a shame really cause you can see his talent when he's 100%. The players talk about it. I will admit he looked good down the stretch but he's going to need to put up some better numbers but more importantly, play more games. I would love to see him play 75 games and I really hope that happens. Really, it's the only way that this signing would be justified. If he plays a full season (at least 70 games), he could hit 25-30 goals and around the same in assists. That would be ideal.
So that gives the Buds 4-5 top 6 forwards: Sundin, Tucker, Poni, Antropov, Wellwood. O'neill (my hometown player) is pretty much gone and where that leaves Peca, hard to say. Reports are that he wants to come back and he said that he knows that he won't get a raise so maybe he will take a pay cut.
In the end, the Leafs are looking at $39 mil of cap spent (give or take) and with the cap possibly going up to $49 mil (rumor of $52 but I think that's a bit much), they could have some cash to spend on wingers to boost that top line. The only thing that concerns me is the Carlo has yet to be re-uped. That could be a trade waiting to happen.
Tonight is the night. At least that's what I would like to see. The Ducks win at home with te crowd going crazy. Snoop can cheer along and everyone is happy. I would expect the Sens to put up a fight but with Pronger back in the line up, the Ducks still pissed at Alfredson and the what could be the last game ever for Teemu, it seems all but over. I expect Fisher to put on a show and prove that he is top talent and Emery should be solid again.
4-2 and the GWG by Perry (I hope I win that hat too).
