With my recent article of number one centers out there, a solution may have just appeared. Last week, rumors were out of center Tomas Hertl being available. The Sharks center was drafted 17th overall by this organization in 2012. Hertl has 26 points this year, and five away from the career high he had last year. He could end up with as much as 50 points this year, and that would be impressive. Hertl is a pending RFA, like Seth Jones, but San Jose might not have the money he wants as the Sharks have big contracts with their big stars- Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Brent Burns, Joe Paveski, Logan Couture, and Marc Edouard-Vlasic. Also, with this team being a veteran team and in reach of a Stanley Cup, they may want either a prospect or a veteran, or both.
What would you give up for Tomas Hertl? What seems price tag seems reasonable for a new contract? Will he get traded? What are your thoughts on San Jose? More to come…
