Talk about ugly. Last night was tough to watch for Columbus Blue Jacket fans everywhere. The final score of the game was 6-3 for the Maple Leafs, which earned the Leafs their first win of the season and for new head coach Mike Babcock.

Leo Komarov scored twice, including an empty-netter. Also, Jake Gardiner, JVR, Nazem Kadri, and Joffery Lupul scored for the Maple Leafs. Blue Jacket killer Daniel Winnik had three points. James Reimer stopped 24 of 27, which is not that bad for a backup goalie, but can be improved upon.
For Columbus, Boone Jenner opened the scoring in the first period off a redirection from a Cam Atkinson shot. Late in the second, Nick Folingo scored a gorgeous goal which came off Hartnell's chest, off the boards behind Reimer, and right on Folingo's stick and behind the Leafs netminder. In the final period, Scott Hartnell earned his 600th career point by plotting a goal behind Reimer. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 28 of 33, which is unexceptional for a former Veznia Trophy winner. The Jackets have allowed 26 goals in 5 games, the worst in the league, but have scored 12, which is not enough to get wins in this league.
David Clarkson and Cody Goloubef played their first games of the year yesterday. Clarkson had a good wrestling match with former teammate and Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf. Goloubef played with Ryan Murray last night on the second defensive unit, and did not look lost at all.
CBJ's Three Stars of the Night
1. Scott Hartnell- 1 goal, 1 assist, 600 career points
2. Nick Folingo- first goal of the season
3. Boone Jenner- 1 goal
Now for the Blue Jackets, off to the United Center to battle the Chicago Blackhawks.
