Nothing like a good pun right? Onto the serious stuff, the Columbus Blue Jackets lost to the Carolina Hurricanes by the final score of 5-3.
Notice to Internet Explorer Users
Cam Atkinson opened the scoring with less than two minutes, beating Cam Ward on a nice little deke from behind the net. His goal was his 20th of the season, becoming the third player in franchise history to score 20 goals in four seasons with the Jackets. Jack Johnson (my CBJ player to watch) and Boone Jenner had the assists.
Jeff Skinner evened the score with two minutes into the second period. My Hurricanes player to watch had his 15th of the season. Victor Rask and Derek Ryan had the assists.
Going with the same top line for Carolina, Ryan netted his eighth of the season to give his club a 2-1 lead. Rask and Skinner had the assists.
Josh Anderson evened the score at 2-2 for his team for his ninth this season. The goal was unassisted.
Brock McGinn got his team back on the scoreboard with his second goal this year. Matt Tennyson and Noah Hanifin had the helpers.
Brandon Saad evened the game at 3-3 with less a minute in the second for his 15th of the season. Alex Wennberg had the lone assist.
Jordan Staal got the game winning goal three minutes into the final period for his eighth of the season. The returnee Elias Lindhlolm had an assist.
The top line's center- Victor Rask- scored an empty netter for his 12th of the season. Skinner and NHL All Star Justin Faulk had assists on the goal.
Cam Ward was impressive in the final period, and that was enough to upset to the NHL's best team. Anton Forsberg got his first NHL start of the season, and did not perform up to expectations.
More to come...
