After a couple days off from game action, the Columbus Blue Jackets are back on the ice tonight where they are taking on the New York Islanders. The Islanders last played Sunday in a dominating 8-1 performance against the West's worse team- the Edmonton Oilers.
On January 12, the last time these teams played each other, the Blue Jackets fell to the Islanders in their alternate black colored jerseys by a final score of 5-2. The Islanders got goals from Brock Nelson (3), Brian Strait, and Ryan Strome. Other players with points include Matt Martin, Casey Cizkas, Andres Lee, and John Tavares (my player to watch). Thomas Greiss made 18 saves on 20 shots against for a 0.900 save percentage (90%). Columbus got goals from William "Wid Bill" Karlsson and David Savard. Other players with points include Jack Johnson. Anton Forsberg made 28 saves on 32 for an 0.875 save percentage (87.5%).
Johnny Boychuk is playing his second game following a short term injury. Kyle Okposo is playing in his 500th NHL game tonight, and all have been with the Islanders. For Columbus, the captain is on the fourth line as they are looking for him to produce the level he did last season.

Players to Watch
Columbus: Kerby Rychel. With his promotion to the third line, he has a chance to keep his point consistency (around a 0.333) alive as being someone the Jackets can lean on for years, or someone to move soon.
NYI: The Older Strome. Ryan has been a sort of antidote to the Islanders' early season troubles. After an overall team start, he was sent down to the AHL affiliate, Birdgeport Sound Tigers, he got his head back in the game, and the Islanders can be looking into a postseason run.
Enjoy the games tonight. More to come…
