The odds were in the Blue Jackets winner on Saturday night. Because of the new NHL draft lottery, there could be a new order as any eliminated team has a chance to win picks 1, 2, or 3.
With the new lottery and the results of the lottery on Saturday, here is the new order.
1. Toronto
2. Winnipeg
3. Columbus
4. Edmonton
5. Vancouver
6. Calgary
7. Arizona
8. Buffalo
9. Montreal
10. Colorado
11. New Jersey
12. Ottawa
13. Carolina
14. Boston
The new order has Columbus at number three instead of number five. This pretty much guarantees the Jackets a Finnish forward- Patrik Laine or Jesse Puljujarvi.
This will be a very good pick for the Jackets, and it lets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen go back to his Finnish roots.
Patrik Laine, who is 6-foot-3, 202 pounds, turned 18 just 12 days ago. In 46 games for Tappara Tampere in Finland’s top league, Laine had 17 goals, 16 assists and six penalty minutes.
Puljujarvi, who is 6-foot-3, 198 pounds, doesn’t turn 18 until May 7. In 50 games with Karpat, also in Finland’s top league, he had 13 goals, 15 assists and 22 penalty minutes.
