CBJ Split-Squad: Columbus Blue Jackets v. St. Louis Blues

Preseason hockey has arrived to the hockey world. For the Blue Jackets, they play a split squad matchup against the St. Louis Blues.

Since it's the first games, I will let you guys know who the Blues added, lost, and who is on PTOs before getting into the lineups, so you guys know whose there.

The Blues lost veteran players in Steve Ott (DET); Troy Brouwer (CGY); Andre Benoit; Peter Harrold; and Chris Butler.They also traded Brian Elliot to Calgary for a second round pick and a third round pick (conditional). However, their biggest lost is captain David Backes (BOS).

They added goalie Carter Hutton, who played with Nashville last season; winger Landon Ferraro, son of announcer and former NHLer Ray Ferraro, who split last season with Detroit and Boston; and winger David Perron, who split last season with Pittsburgh and Anaheim, going back to the team that drafted him.

On PTOs, the Blues have six veterans: D Mike Weber; LW Eric Nystrom; LW TJ Galiardi; LW Chris Porter; C Yan Statsny; and D Scooter Vaughn.

Because I couldn't have the time to post about the pre game action, I am combining my pre game and post games blogs into one today.

In both games yesterday, the Jackets were destroyed by the Blues.

At the Scottrade Center, the final score was 7-3 for St. Louis.

Scott Hartnell got two of the Jackets' three goals. Sam Gagner got the other goal. Hartnell had an assist on Gagner's goal; Gagner and Marc-Andre Bergeron had helpers on both of Hartnell's goals. Cam Atkinson had an assist on Gagner's goal.

The Blues got goals from Kevin Shattenkirk (2); Paul Stastny; Kenny Agostino (3); and Sam Blias. Other players with points were Carter Hutton; Robby Fabbri; and David Perron.

Joonas Korpisalo had the start for the Blue Jackets, stopping 21 of 27 for a 0.778 save percentage (77.8%). Jeremy Brouder was the backup, and he stopped 8 of 9 for a 0.889 save percentage (88.9%).

Jake Allen had the start for the Blues, stopping 13 of 16 for a 0.813 save percentage (81.3%). Carter Hutton stopped two of two shots faced (100%).

At Nationwide Arena, the Blues blanked the Blue Jackets, 5-0. The Blues had goals from TJ Galiardi; Ty Rattie; Kyle Brodziak; Eric Nystrom; and Jordan Kyrou. Other players with points were Yan Stastny; Landon Ferrao; and Magnus Paajarvi.

Jordan Binnington stopped all 12 shots faced (100%); Phoenix Copley stopped all 11 shots faced (100%).

Anton Forsberg stopped 25 of 28 shots faced for a 0.892 save percentage (89.2%); Lucas Perressini stopped 5 of 7 for a 0.714 save percentage (71.4%).
