The defense of the home streak reigns supreme over one of the hottest teams in the NHL. Last night, the Blue Jackets defeated the New York Rangers by the final score of 4-2.
A JT Miller turnover in center ice results in a William Karlsson slap shot beating Henrik Lundqvist in between the legs for a 1-0 Columbus lead. Wild Bill's goal was his third of the season.
A Jesper Fast turnover leads to a Sam Gagner goal beating the King over the trapper for a 2-0 Columbus lead. Gagner's goal was his team leading seventh goal of the season.
A Ryan Murray turnover leads to a Michael Grabner goal, beating Sergei Bobrovsky on a breakaway upstairs for a 2-1 Columbus lead. Grabner' goal is his 11th of the season.
A great in zone effort by the Rangers leads to a tie game by Mika Zibanejad. The former Senator's goal was his fourth of the season. Rookie Brady Skjei and ex Blue Jacket Nick Holden had the assists.
After getting 36 stitches off a blocked shot to the face, a two on one effort leads to a short handed game winning goal from Matt Calvert for his second goal of the season. Wild Bill and Ryan Murray had the assists.
Boone Jenner scored an empty netter with one second left in the game for his second of the season; Cam Atkinson had the lone assists.
King Henrik was the starting goalie for the Rangers. Lundqvist allowed three goals on 23 shots faced for a 0.870 save percentage (87%). Sergei Bobrovsky allowed two goals on 27 shots faced for a 0.926 save percentage (92.6%).
Scott Harrington was my player to watch for Columbus, and the team is 2-0-0 with him in the lineup. He was a +1 with 13:21 in ice time. Jimmy. Vessey was a -1 with 16:31 in ice time, and had one shot on net.
