Opening Note: My apologies for being away for a lengthy period of time. The long weekend of extra hours kept me unavailable to bring updates to you guys. It may end up being the same way coming up at Christmas time.
No onto the time that was for the Jackets.
Game 18: Shut Out Surprise
On Wednesday night, the Jackets suffered a surprising defeat to the struggling Calgary Flames by the final score of 2-0.
Off a nice drive to the net, two former Blackhawks set up the opening goal. Kris Versteeg dished the puck towards a charging Troy Brouwer for his fifth tally of the season.
The second goal comes off a Columbus turnover in their end. Dennis Wideman pokes the puck off Nick Foligno's stick; and Michael Ferland snipes the puck over Bob's blocker for his fourth of the season.
Chad Johnson was the starter for the Flames, stopping all 34 shots faced. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 18 of 20 shots for a 0.900 save percentage (90%)
Game 19: Ben Bishoped
The Blue Jackets defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in Amalie Arena by the final score of 5-3.
The Jackets were able to get two first period goals from their most productive line thus far. Alex Wennberg, the usual assist guy, beats Ben Bishop for his fourth goal of the season; Brandon Saad and Jack Johnson had the assists.
Later, Nick Foligno scores on the power play for his eighth goal of the season. The power play goal was assisted by Cam Atkinson and Zach Werenski.
In the middle frame, Nikita Kucherov gets his team on the board for his 11th goal of the season. Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat had the assists.
In the middle point of the middle period, Josh Anderson scores for his sixth of the season. Scott Hartnell had the assists.
In the late stages of the second period, Jason Garrison scores his first of the season for Tampa. Val Flippula and Ryan Callahan had the assists.
In the final period, Palat ties the game to earn his fourth of the season. Kucherov and Victor Hedman had the assists.
Not long after, Saad gets Columbus the go ahead lead for his fifth of the season. Wennberg had the assist.
Atkinson scored a short handed goal for his eighth of the season.
Ben Bishop allowed five goals on 38 shots faced for a 0.868 save percentage (86.8%). Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 of 28 shots for a 0.893 save percentage (89.3%).
Game No. 20: Shootout in Sunrise
The Florida Panthers defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets by the final score of 2-1 in a shootout.
Jaromir Jagr opened the scoring for the Panthers in the first period. The goal was his third of the campaign; Alex Barkov and Shawn Thornton had the assists.
In the third, Brandon Saad back hands a puck behind Roberto Luongo for his sixth of the season; Cam Atkinson and Brandon Dubinsky had the assists.
In the shootout, Sasha Barkov was the only one to beat Bobs to get his team the extra point.
Luongo stopped 36 of 37 shots for a 0.963 save percentage (96.3%). Bobrovsky stopped 22 of 23 shots for a 0.957 save percentage (95.7%).
Breaking Trade
Defenseman Cody Goloubef has been traded to Colorado for defenseman Ryan Stanton. Goloubef has been a Jacket since being drafted in 2008. Stanton was a Chicago draft pick, that has also played with Vancouver and Washington. Stanton has been assigned to the Cleveland Monsters.

Prayers to the Buckeyes
As many now know, there was a shooting at the campus of Ohio State University. Prayers to everyone on campus with those impacted by the actions that have transpired.
