The Columbus Blue Jackets scored five straight goals to defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning by the final score of 5-1.
In the first period, the Blue Jackets opened the scoring off a snap shot from William Karlsson. Wild Bill sniped the puck on the blocker side of Andrei Vaslievisky for the goal. For Karlsson, it was his second goal of the season. Josh Anderson and Ryan Murray had the assists.
In the second period, the Jackets capitalized off a Tampa turnover to get a 2-0 lead. Seth Jones recover the puck, and passed it over to Alex Wennberg, who got it passed Vaslievisky. Wennberg's goal was his fifth goal of the season.
Later in the frame, Josh Anderson capitalized on a Scott Hartnell one timer for a 3-0 Columbus lead. Anderson's goal was his seventh of the season. Markus Nutivarra had the secondary assist.
In the third period, Scott Hartnell rips one past Vaslievisky for a 4-0 lead. Hartnell's goal was his fifth goal of the season. David Savard and Josh Anderson had the assists.
Later in the period, Sam Gagner beat Vaslievisky with a wrap around goal. Gagner's goal was his eighth of the season.
In the late stages of the third period, Valterri Flippula beats Sergei Bobrovsky with a flutter goal. It was his fifth goal of the campaign. Brayden Point and Andrej Sustr had the assists.
Vaslievisky stopped 33 of 38 shots for a 0.868 save percentage (86.8%). Bobrovsky allowed one goal on 27 shots for a 0.963 save percentage (96.3%).
