The Columbus Blue Jackets held on in a back to back situation to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers by the final score of 2-1 in overtime.
In the first period, Flyers defenseman Andrew MacDonald had a goal waived off by an interesting goalie interference chalk by John Tortorella. The call came with less than two minutes into the first period. The booming slap shot coming from the blue line. Michael Raffl lightly nudged Ryan Murray into Sergei Bobrovsky, and that seemed to be enough to reverse the call.
In the second period, David Savard had his own slap shot from the blue line, that beat Steve Mason to break the ice. After a goalie interference challenge from the Flyers, the call on the ice stood as a goal. His goal was his second of the season. Josh Anderson had the lone assist on the goal.
With 16.5 seconds remaining in regulation, Brayden Schenn beat Bobrovsky off a rebound attempt from rookie defenseman Ivan Provorov. Schenn's goal was his 12th of the season.
Midway through overtime, the Jackets got an odd man rush. Seth Jones fed the puck to captain Nick Foligno who beat Mason to win the game. The captain's goal was his 14th of the season.
Former Blue Jacket Steve Mason allowed two goals on 25 shots as the starting goalie for the Flyers tonight. Overall, he was silently sound for the Flyers in their loss. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 of 26 shots in a bounce back effort after being shut out in his previous start.

Also, Curtis McElhinney's time in Columbus had been cut short. After a comeback loss on Saturday night, he has been placed on waivers for the purpose of player assignment to the Cleveland Monsters. Markus Hannikanen has also been sent back to Cleveland to get more ice time. And Anton Forsberg will now serve as the backup to Bobs.
What are your thoughts on the transaction?
More to come...
