Various news and notes

So lots has gone down lately and lots of rumors floating around. I'm just going to take this time to go over the events and rumors leading up to the draft.

- Great move by the Flyers. I don't get why people are complaining, they get what they wanted and so did the Preds from what I can tell.

- I do think the Flyers over paid but they did something smart with the top heavy contract for Timonen

- All this talk of a Stars/Leafs trade is interesting. It seems they are interested in Steen. I still think Carlo is involved or involved in another trade so we'll see.

- Quinn to the Sens? That just sounds weird

- Roberts Roberts Roberts... ok we get it, the Sens should have got him... don't get me wrong, I think Roberts is an amazing player but he isn't the only the reason the Sens didn't win the cup.

- Now with the shake up in Sens-land, it will be interesting to see who stays and who goes. Murray knows exactly what his team needs and who should be moved.

- So if the Preds move to the Hammer... will they remain a Western team or does another team move to the west?

---------------

Draft day is so close and lets keep our fingers cross for some crazy action that night.

Cheers
z.

It doesn't make any sense to move to Hamilton if they aren't going to play the Leafs, Sabres and Sens. You would think they would stay in the West perhaps until KC and Vegas come online. As a Flyers fan I'm hoping they trade Pitkanen to Edmonton for the 6th overall and that Cherepanov slides to that spot. If he isn't there they should have their pick of one of Alzner, Gagner or Espo. I can live with that. Maybe they even pick up a 2nd rounder or the Oilers later 1st. If the Flyers are stocking up on FAs on long term contracts then they'll need a supply line of cheap talent coming up through the system to stay under the cap.

I agree... I just wonder who then would move to the west... in an ideal world, we would go down to 26 teams

Hamilton would remain in the west and develop a natural rivalry with Detroit.Better marketing for the NHL as well, by exposing hockey fans in Southern Ontario to Eastern and Western teams. When The NHL expands (sigh), two western teams will be added, and Detroit and Hamilton will move east.

that's not a bad idea but Detroit is good for the West in terms of marketing... they are a big team that's in the west that all the media in the east care about...
