According to sources close to Curtis Glencross, he has signed with the Calgary Flames. The deal took place around supper time, July 1st. The terms of the deal are reportedly 3 years, 3.2 million and won't be announced until tomorrow. Glencross was tops on my free agent list in terms of players I felt would come to Calgary.
3 years, $3.2 M? Sounds fair to me...I suppose there's our 2nd line LW. I was very disappointed in Sutter's lack of activity today but this is a good start. The Flames need more youth and Glencross fits the bill, the only question is, whether or not he is a flash in the pan.
Really? 3 years @ 3.2 = 1.07/yr. I thought he was looking for $1.5-$2.0/yr and lowe was offering 1. I'm surprised he didn't go back to Edmonton if those numbers are correct.
yeah that's what I thought too... apparently he said he didn't want to leave Alberta so it was one or the other... my guess is that Lowe is too busy going after the big names and needs all the cap space possible, just in case.
The left side is looking pretty weak, Glencross is a 3rd or even 4th line guy, I would assume (or hope) that Sutter is looking trade route at this point. P.S. I'm very happy about Prust being on a one way, he earned it and the fans will love him!
Nice call on Glencross slepp. Reports about signing Vandermeer are also coming out. And on the left side, I think Bourque is going to get the 2nd line spot with Nystrom, Prust and Glencross vying for the 3rd and 4th line roles. Perhaps one of them switches to RW.
I still see the Flames signing another winger believe it or not. Somebody will have to definitely switch to RW, though, perhaps Glencross on the 3rd line.
You guys do need to sign another winger(s) you guys are looking like a AHL team on your 3rd and 4th line. Good pick up on Glencross CONGRATS
