Should I buy a broom? The overhyped Philadelphia Flyers who are allergic to solid goaltending are on the brink of getting swept out of the second round. Now, the analysts will tell you they saw it coming to where the diehard fan might say different.

Me?
Once the league figured out BOB, the Flyers were doomed. Boosh is solid back up but not one to carry the load. BOB, still has a lot to learn about the North America game. The one thing I would teach him is that the league knows TO SHOOT HIGH ON YOUR GLOVE SIDE. duh!!! This is similiar to telling someone to skate with their head up, but I digress.

If the Flyers ever want to win the Stanley Cup, they need to invest some money in a goalie. They have been cheap too long. Esche, Boosh (2), Leighton, Biron, Backlund, Hextall (2nd time), Snow, Beezer, Burke...to name a few. I'm tired of trying to find a hidden gem, invest some money, make a trade...do something. I firmly believe if they had some sort of solid goaltending somewhere in the last 10 to 15 years, they might've won at least one cup by now. Hell, I would even trade for Marty at this point to train BOB if BOB is the answer. Even make a trade for Nabokov...I don't know.

Beyond goaltending, I firmly believe the team lacks an identity on the front end. The back end is all about Pronger but there is not Pronger like presence on the front end. We all thought Bill Guerin was going to provide that in the beginning of the year but Nodl won out. Let me type this again, Nodl won out. Are you kidding me!!! The Flyers have lacked a true veteran presence since Knuble left to go to the Capitals.

To the team as a whole, I have not been a fan of the make up of the whole team and I know changes are going to occur so is it time to break up the young/old core? I would say yes to some degree. At this point, I would trade Carter if I could. He could bring a good return and his NTC does not kick in until 12-13. I would not mind trading Richards either. But, not to get into the whole roster but at this stage of the game, I don't believe anyone is safe. On the hook, Shelley, Nodl, Carcillo, Zherdev (wasted space but once again plenty of upside), Leighton, Boosh, Hartnell to name a few. Then are you going to resign Leino, O'Donnell? Let's not forget about Walker.

Overall, another year and too many questions are coming up that I doubt can be answered. To have a team that spends to the max, the money could be used a little wiser. Too many times I have gone to a games witnessed ice capades and dancing fat guy instead of a good solid hockey game.

What say you Homer? Then again, they could come back like they did last year. You never know.

Trivia question
What team has more questions going into the off-season Caps or Flyers?

Penguins!...OK...just kidding. That's a tough one but I say Caps. The Flyers showed us last year that they had some fortitude. Maybe there is still some gas in the tank to do it again (I think it's probably very close to "E" right now). The Caps have shown us repeatedly they have NO fortitude. When push comes to shove...the fall down like dominoes. The Flyers need a goalie...one that they all believe can get the jobs done.

I think last year they had that to some extent when Leighton came in. This year they don't have anybody they can rely on...at least not up until now.

I want to say your 100% right. There is no one on this team that is untouchable and if there are its only jvr and giroux.
