"When will the Bruins return to the Glory Days?"
Bridgeport, CT • United States • 41 Years Old • Male
The Boston Bruins have lost the Winter Classic luster and are currently in the midst of a five game losing streak and are 2-9 since the classic. Sure we can sit here and say the boys have been decimated with injuries and on most nights look like Providence Extra Strength quality, but lets face it, their depth was tested several times last season and it responded better than this. Although I don't think too many teams played a game this season missing their top three centers?!!!

This is where a General Manager can truly earn his bacon. You need to know when to push the panic button (unlike Mike O'Connell) and shake things up! The window of opportunity is now, before the Olympic break and during a stretch of five days off to make
a deal or two to shake things up for the stretch. Wait till the deadline can mean all the difference and by then the Bruins may find themselves cold hard sellers!

I'm enjoying the rumors that a deal could happen before today is over. I think the timing is right and it gives the new acquisitions a few days to practice and get acclimatised to the team and surroundings and lets face it, there's no better opponent than Buffalo to turn things around against, as they sit atop the Northeast Division.

Strong rumors of another Bruins Edmonton swap is being bantered about. Putting the puzzle pieces together can I assume or hope that Mr. Souray is part of the talks? This deal would make sense to me. The Bruins power play is sorely lacking punch. Both Chara and Wideman have been huge PP disappointments, with the latter being a disappointment in multiple facets this season! You may ask would Wideman be a part of such a package and I think yes. He is still on the young side and GM Steve Tambellini won't have to worry about his contract for two years (3 million per). Derek Morris unfortunately cannot handle this burden alone. I think the B's may parlay Wideman and a pick(s) for Souray and a forward.
Rumor has it, it will be a forward in which Atlanta covets and then be parlayed into a Kovulchuk deal. While Kovulchuk's contract demands don't thrill me in the long run, the thought of him in Black and Gold, reunited with Marc Savard, has me real excited for a playoff run!
I'm sure when Savard locked up long term with the B's at a bargain rate, this was discussed.

I know Savvy is salivating at the thought right now and so am I!!!!
