New post up over at The Hockey Writers looking for YOUR predictions as the Islanders head into the 2011 season. Will they make the playoffs? Will they get better production from their offense? What are your thoughts on Rick DiPietro continuing his come back?

they have a shot right now but if they do midway through the season, thats when im sure garth will shoot for that top 6 winger and let martin and or joensuu try for the big club for now.

I think they are a year away still. The schedule does not favor them playing NYR, NJ, Pitts and Philly 32 games a year.

they have a better chance next year of making the playoffs. They have a snowballs chance in hell this year. Tampa, carolina improved. toronto i expect to rebound. atlanta could surprise people since they played strong after the kovalchuk trade. I won't fully rule out montreal. The Isles have a mountain to climb to see postseason action. And if by some way they make it. They will get swept out of the 1st round.

As much as I enjoy watching the Islanders play, I just can't see them making the playoffs. They will definatly finish higher than last year, but with all the east teams that have improved significantly, the Islanders don't match them. Just my input.

The Atlantic is just a beast of a conference. Philly, Pittsburgh, Rangers, NJ. One of those teams is going to have to finish lower than the Islanders and I don't see it at the moment. I think the best shot is knocking the Rangers off.

I'd like to see them make it, but that division is stacked, I think they can if they get a few D prospects stepping up, You get at least one of your good forward prospects making the team I think, so they might sneak up on some teams playing backups against them. If the kids get some early confidence they might make a Colorado type surge. :)

Lets see what the opening night line up is before we make predictions about a team thats not even set yet. Isles should be better than last season as guys gain experience and step it up to the next level.
