Okay.........so is it too early to call this a must-win game for the Jets ? I know its a long season but I just have this sneaky suspicion that the Jets really need to win this game. If they are able to pull off a win, they should have some confidence heading back home to post a sure loss to the Pens.
The whole new Jets vs old Jets thing
This has absolutely no bearing on anyone in either dressing room....including Shane Doan. The only people this matters to are media and fans, not really sure why, but it does.
Things to keep an eye on
- Does the top line for the Jets, Ladd/Little/Wheeler, show any offensive spark at all ?
- Is Mark Scheifele going to be invisible, or will he step up and give us a reason to be optimistic ?
- Will Kyle Wellwood be the most dangerous Jet on the ice yet again ? Because if he is......its a Jets loss, plain and simple.
- How many Winnipeggers actually made the trip to Phoenix ? There have been varied reports ranging from less than 100 to over 1000. I will be interested to see just how many actually made the trek.
Pretty hard to call the 3rd game of the season a must-win, but I just can't explain to you how much I have this nagging feeling that the team's performance tonight will give us a complete barometer of what we can expect this year. A loss and your looking at a lottery team. A win and your guess is as good as mine, could be lottery.....could be battling for a playoff spot (depending on just how bad Ottawa, Toronto, Florida, Montreal, New York(s) are going to be). In either case, it should be an interesting game as I think these teams will be pretty evenly matched. I'm guessing 4-3 Jets in a shootout.
