I’ve been thinking about this past season for the Sabres. Namely how and why things went wrong (if someone says injuries, I’m going to scream). I do really like the new players that Buffalo has brought in, and I’m anxious as to what will happen next. But my question is, will it matter?
I like the additions so far, and I get the feeling that there’s more in the works with Buffalo adding all of these players that I see starting in Rochester, (Porter and Mancari come to mind). I like that Buffalo is getting a tougher, bigger team, and a new mentality on the ice. However, is that going to change Buffalo’s game plan? Buffalo had a decent game plan a few years ago. Buffalo played a very aggressive offense game, using their speed to generate opportunities and smart defense. Then, I watched Buffalo “fix” the game plan that got them into the Eastern Conference Finals 2 years in a row.
Needless to say it didn’t work. Buffalo got worse.

The team they had was great for the post lockout NHL and how it was supposed to work , but the NHL caved in from a lot of pressure from the old guard of the NHL and reverted back to the old boring style of hockey leaving Buffalo out in the cold with their high flying exciting style . That is why the changes had to be made. Do you really understand anything about the NHL ?
Aye
Injuries were part of last season like it or not stop pretending they don't affect the team
The main thing was time. Time to gel together. Add to that injuries and guys having to play with different line-mates every other game takes its toll.
Look at the Canadiens when they went to the conference finals a few years ago. They had huge turnover and it took the them almost 3/4 of the season to gel. They snuck into the playoffs and almost made the cup finals. If the season was 90 games the Sabres almost certainly would've made it. From there? Who knows.
Injuries........ scream
if you guys weren't on you 9th and 10th dmen, you'd have won the cup that yr.
You're an idiot! Yes injuries matter. If you question that you can call the Indianapolis Colts. And the NHL has reverted back to its boring clutch and grab style which the Sabres were not built for. The cancer known as Derek Roy is gone and the void in toughness and leadership has been more than filled. We have young up and coming talent with a great leader and mentoe in Ott. We need a first line center and we WILL be a playoff team. Try not being astereotypical cynical
