Bruins and Flyers

I watched the hit. I saw the replays over and over again and I am not of the opinion this was a dirty hit. On the contrary, I thought was a clean hit gone bad. A Clean Hit gone bad? Yes, when are the players who are being hit make the necessary adjustments and protect themselves? Too many times I've seen the player being hit turn the backs to the player coming in so they could draw a penalty. Watch the replay and you could make the argument that the Bruins players threw himself into the boards to have a penalty called.

The players who leave themselves in a bad spot are just to blame as the players who are looking to hit someone. It takes two to tango.

It's not always 100% the fault of the players who's doing the hitting. It was not dirty hit and I don't believe Jones should be suspended but as we have seen Campbell has a liking to suspend anyone who wears the Orange and Black. Look around the league, there has been more the one dirty hit after Downie and Boulerice's hit but with little or no suspension.

Makes you kinda wonder.

At the end of the day, the game must go on and the Flyers came out on top 2-1.

You are insane! You think Bergeron threw himself into the boards to draw a penalty? And you need to learn the NHL rules. If a player purposely turns his back to avoid a hit, it's not a penalty if you hit him from behind. It was a penalty becasue he drove him into the boards. These "conspiracy" theories that Flyers fans are throwing around have absolutely no merit whatsoever. It is rediculous to say so. P.S. I'm a Flyers fan

i agree bergeron looks like we was goin to take the puck around the net and then he suddenly turns left with his head down and jones made a good play taking him into the boards but bergeron turned and there is no way u can stop.

Trust me, I've been around long enough and seen enough to see how the players are today do not have the toughness as the players in the past. Simply put, regardless if your a Flyers fan or not...look outside the box and watch the hit. Insane no...making you think outside the box and showing you the person who is being hit needs to learn to protect himself. Think of the Cole hit as well, he saw the player coming and turned towards the boards. Both are at fault.

you guys are ridiculous... bergeron had his back to him the entire time... flyers fans keep saying bergeron shouldn't have been stopping... but what would you have him do, skate right through the boards? jones hit him from behind into the boards, at worst he intended to injure him (which i don't believe) and at best jones was acting recklessly and stupidly without thinking of the consequences of his actions... a 12 year old kid playing minor hockey knows you don't hit guys from behind, especially around the boards... that is how guys get paralyzed... stop making excuses and saying guys should learn to protect themselves... those comments are assinine... it was a reckless play that happens too often in hockey and hopefully the league cracks down on it before someone's career is over, or worse

I feel that the hit was not a dirty hit and that people are over reacting to the situation. Everyone is calling the Flyers a dirty team but it is the players themselves who are accountable for their actions. Jones is not by any means a dirty player and after watching the reply I do not feel that he should be suspended. That being said IF he does receive a suspension it should be minimal, primarily because I too have seen far too many hits go unpenalized. Had Jones not followed through with his hit PB would probably be fine right now but to me it seemed as if he was also at fault.

And the idiots continue to blame the victim. Because of that, your words have no credibility whatsoever. Take responsibility...and stop blaming the victim! Jones had more than enough time and space to hold up enough so that the hit wasn't dangerous.

rdfred,I am not blaming the victim for being hit but it is ignorant on your behalf to assume that players are not accountable for their own actions. When a player gets hits at centre ice because he is skating with his head down is that the defenders fault, obviously not. Players have to realize where they are on the ice and if they don’t and they elect to play reckless than things like this are going to happen. I was watching a report on NHL network showing the hit and both analysts agreed that had PB taken a different angle or had his head up the entire time and not turned his back to Jones the situation could have been avoided. It is easy to place blame on those doing the hitting but when players act like they are not suppose to be touched more instances like this will occur.

well said Max. you wont catch me agreeing with a Sabres fan too often, but there it is. :) i dont have a problem with the Jones suspension because it seems to be consistent with other suspensions for similar hits over the last couple of years. but to say that Bergeron shouldnt assume any responsibility for his own injuries is ridiculous. its not blaming the victim...its facing reality.anyone with common sense knows that it probably isnt a good idea to walk through Wakefield Park in Philadelphia counting a roll of 20's. so if someone ignored that idea and did it, and gets mugged or killed, what would be the response? "Dumb bastard should have known better" its an extreme example but one that illustrates that you shouldnt willingly put yourself in a dangerous situation unless youre also willing to accept some responsibility and deal with the consequences. there's enough blame to go around to both Jones and Bergeron.

I'm just waiting for Briere to get run by some team in retaliation just so everyone can listen to the indignant Flyers fans who will say, "SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT HITS FROM BEHIND!"
