If you want to win your hockey pool and I know you do then read and remember the following.
I won't name the obvious players such as Crosby, OV and the Thornton's of the world as we all know about them. All these predictions etc are based on healthy seasons for the players.
Pay attention as some players are for keepers reasons.
Players I love
Forwards
Eric Staal-I can see him back in the 90 point range. As long as they don't have too many road trips to Minny he should be fine
Jordan Staal-He needs to play wing with Sid or Geno and he will........60 points. If he's throwing a bachelor party you must attend, the Staal's rock on and off the ice.
Mark Savard-They said he couldn't play with out Hossa and Kovalchuk, he can hit 90 points this year. Ryder will owe Savard many dinners on the road as he will score 30+goals this year because of Savard.
Patrick O'Sullivan-The kid is 2 years away from a point a game.... 65 points this year. Funny how things get better when the insane Dad is finally out of the way. Word of advice, don't be an insane hockey Dad.
Joe Pavelski-New 2nd line center on San Jose, 55 points and trending upwards. He is now the #2 center and Big Joe gets the checking line so Little Joe should flow.
Alexander Semin-He had 73 points 2 seasons ago and last year he was injured......... 70 points. A healthy Nylander setting him up all season could be trouble for the rest of the division.
Shawn Mattias-he could hit 50 points depending on playing time, I see 75 points with in 3 years. The one mistake the Red Wings have made in the past few years.
Jeff Carter-35 goals and 60 points this season and an upside of 90 points in 2 years. As long as he gets some scoring wingers this will happen, no more Kapanen's and Tolpeko's thank you very much.
Brendan Morrisson-As the #2 centre with the Ducks I see him having a solid season.......60 points. Somebody needs to set up Teemu.
Jared Stoll-He should be the #2 center in LA and he will be blasting away from the point on the PP.......60 points. Plus he's dating Rachel Hunter, that's good for some points in my books.
Val Filppula-He's Zetterburg lite and the kid can play trust me.....50 points and 75 in 3 years. How do the Wings do it?
Nigel Dawes-he's small but he can score.................45-55 points with an upside of 70 in 3 years. I think he should grow that fro, he'd be a big hit in the Big Apple.
Cory Stillman-He will get big ice time in Florida and will produce......................65-70 points. Wherever he goes he puts up points, you'd think he'd stick around for a while.
Jason Williams-He can flat out play offense and he's playing with Kovalchuk.......60 points. If he could stick somewhere and stay healthy he could be a nifty player.
Sam Gagner-He will be better then his Dad and the Oilers love this slickster......60 points.
Andrew Cogliano-where did the Oilers get all these young kids from, the kid can play..........55 points.
Robert Nilsson-An Oiler hat trick. This kid just needed some ice time and the Isles will regret trading him......45 points
Defense
Keith Yandle-Who you say? Gretz loves him and he's running the PP...35-45 points. Get a handle on Yandle late in your hockey pool, you won't regret it.
Cam Barker-By the end of the season he will be on the Hawks #1 PP unit.......35-40 points. He has a HOWITZER and Campbell will serve it up on a silver platter.
Kris Letang-With Whitney out this is Letang's shot on the Pens PP..............45 points. Who spells Kris like that? A soon to be star that's who.
Eric Johnson-If you don't have him in a keeper pool you should.........50 points. He is the better of the Johnson boys, they aren't brothers but I like to call them that. it's my blog I can do what I want. Injury watch
Brent Burns-He will start slowly because of off season surgery.................45 points. Drafted as a forward and turned into a defensive stud. Only in Minny I swear could this happen.
Shea Weber-#1 D-man in Nashville. This kid is a stud...............................40-50 points. If he played in Toronto or New York he'd be a household name in the hockey world.
Zac Bogosian-The Thrasher #1 pick this year, the Thrashers want and need him to produce....35 points. The Bogoman will be the cornerstone of this franchise. FYI Kovalchuk will be traded.
Sergei Zubov-After an injury plagued season in Dallas he's ready to roll no matter his age.....58 points. Nobody does it better, Zubov oozes offense and he doesn't care that he's 93 years old nor should you.
Dustin Byfuglien-A rare player that counts as D but plays some forward.......50 points as he'll get some PP time. Buff has the stuff.
Goalies
Bryzgalov-The Yotes are on the way and he's there #1 keeper.............35 wins. The Yotes got him off waivers, holy smokes what a great pick up.
Nabokov-He plays 70+ games and the Sharks are great in the regular season................43 wins. The Sharks are regular season gold and Nabokov locks the crease like it's Fort Knox.
Garon-The Oilers are much better then people realize and he's the #1......................30 wins. Another example of a player who took a few extra years to develop.
Ty Conklin-Ty played stellar in Pittsburgh and I have a bad vibe about Ozzy........20 wins. Ty will Fly with the Red Wing on chest. I predict he is the Wings starting goalie in the playoffs.
Miller-The Sabres and Miller are better then people think................35 wins. A lot depends on the Sabres defense. Miller needs a few carbs in his diet, he looks like he could be faxed to road games.
Price-The kid is the real deal, trust me...........................................30 wins and many more in the future. I hope his nickname is Vincent or Bob.
Toskala-I mention him because I think the Leafs could move him this season, he's a true #1. Poor Toskala, he's a whale of a goalie in the biggest hockey pond in the world. Problem is that pond is full of carp.
Some young goalies to think about if you can stash keepers are Corey Crawford and Jimmy Howard.
Players I hate.
Forwards
Sean Avery-The Stars are Brendan Morrow's team not his his, his ego can't handle that.........40 points.
Dan Cleary-I actually like Dan Cleary the person, Dan Cleary the player not so much...........35 points.
Martin Havlat-million dollar talent in a 99 cent body.............34 points in 38 games.
Jason Arnott-You need wingers to help and he doesn't have many with talent..............60 points.
Pavel Demitra-Unless he somehow plays on a line with the Sedins he's done........45 points MAX.
Doug Weight-Here comes the trading deadline and Weight will be moved again...........40 points.
Alexi Kovalev-Like the Habs he played over his head last year...........................65 points.
Defense
Scott Niedermayer-I know he's awesome, sorry folks he WAS awesome.....................45 points.
Adrian Aucoin-Showed signs last year that he was back, he's not...........................30 points
Mike Green-Am I nuts? Nope, I just have a vibe he's going to get a knee injury................35 points
Tobias Enstrom-He's small and the Bogoman will run the show..................35 points
Wade Redden-If this was 4 years ago he'd be in the I love area, he's a shell of his former self.....40 points.
Mark Streit-Like Bono said this Streit has no name.......................35 points and a -18.
Goalies.
Marty Brodeur-Ok you're thinking I've lost it, I haven't this is the year he tumbles.....28 wins. 28 wins is still damn good it's just not his usual stellar!
Marty Biron-I will be hated for this from the Flyers faithful but I don't trust him..................22 wins
Dwayne Roloson-he's done, it's Garon's job in Edmonton now..............................12 wins.
