Love your little rip on the Pens mayor and fan base in your last article. Are you still upset at the beating your team took in the ECF? I bet you think Philly should be called hockeytown and Mike Richards should be league MVP. Philly needs to learn not to boo its athletes out of town first though..

Hockeytown is Detroit, they have the rights to the name. I actually think Canada is Hockeytown, we live and breath the game in this country. That rip on the Pitts Mayor was brilliant actually. Thanks for reading.

Hockeytown is actually the section of the city of Detroit where the Joe is located. It's not some hackneyed marketing ploy.

I have been to hockeytown but the name itself is actually coined by the owners of the Wings the Ilitch's. The Pens are proving that aren't even hockeyvillage right now anyway.I also noticed no whining at all for Sid on Saturday night, that impressed me.

How can Pittsburgh even be mentioned in the same sentence as hockey town. Are they not the same team that was on the verge of being sold and moved to either Kansas City or Vegas. Now tell me.. how does a team who cannot even make it in their own city be crowned the team from hockeytown?? JW

But they had 5000 people outside of a game.

Heck we had 10,000 people in SW Ontario put a down payment on season tickets because a team may have been coming this way.I just hope hockey keeps getting stronger and more people begin to enjoy it they way we all do.
