Well their you have it my predictions
I think you are thinking of Sergei Zubov on Dallas... Ilya is a prospect with the Senators... how do you come up with the points?
Not bad at all, but i have a few criticisms: (i) Edmonton ahead of both Calgary
James Norris- Ilya Zubov???????????????????I'm sorry but until Nicklas Lidstrom retires (or gets hurt) I don't see any other defenceman winning the norris
Ilya Zubov? If he does happen to win the Norris, how could you possibly not give him the Calder too?
Nice, Although I see Washington at 3, Calgary makes the playoff's and Colorado is outside looking in for the playoff's this year.
A few things don't add up:a) Washington finishing 1st overall. They had a great second half last year, but let's face it, their defence is second rate, and they're banking on a goaltender to return to previous form. They finished with 94 points last year in the south division (which only had one team make the playoffs - Washington). If they played in any other division, they probably don't make the playoffs. I can't see them going all the way to first place.b) You have Washington finishing first in the East, and Ovechkin winning the scoring race with 71 goals, yet he doesn't win the Hart even though Malkin has a much better scoring team?c) Ilya Zubov wins the Norris?.... you are joking with this one.... right?
Calgary will most likely finish ahead of both Edmonton and Colorado.Malkin will not finish with more points than Crosby, barring injury that is.Columbus may squeak into the playoffs ahead of Phoenix and Colorado depending on Nash Umberger..Ovechkin should break 60 goals but I think 70 is a stretch. But hey I could be mistaken and you might be 100% right, only time will tell.
I don't think that Calgary will miss the playoffs this year. I certainly don't think that Edmonton will win the division my any stretch of the imagination. Too many question marks around that team. The Norris will go to Lidstrom so long as he is playing, watch for Dion to take it one of these years.
Can't argue a whole bunch with your standings. However I do think that Tampa is vastly under-rated. Can Montreal repeat last year's performance? Rangers, Devils, Bruins, Sens and Sabres should fight it out for last two playoff spots. In the West I look for Calgary and Minnesota to be in the playoffs probably at the expense of Colorado and Phoenix. Norris trophy - Mike Green! Lidstrom is aging, isn't he? No?
Thx for pointing it out guys , it has been corrected to Sergei.
Washinton first in the east?? lol. i couldnt even read the rest
Stars' Zubov out four weeksOttawa Citizen, Canada - Sep 19, 2008Dallas Stars defenceman Sergei Zubov had arthroscopic hip surgery yesterday and will miss at least four weeks
Like the predictions, as far Flamesin604 prediction of phaneuf winning the norris. Sorry it ain't happening. I knew a guy who went to high school with him in Edmonton and he is the most arrogant cocky SOB you could met. The guy needs to earn some respect around the league in order to be treated like a superstar. Don't get me wrong he's a terrific talent, he's just a POS.
Slimryan24: I've heard that myself and agree. Lidstrom is the best d in the league. I just meant that Phaneuf could take that away from him one day. You are right first he would need to gain more respect around the league.
I also don't think that Colorado has improved much over last year. If anything they have gone down. I don't think that Budai is a number one and that position is going to give them alot of trouble this year. I predict they will miss the playoffs again.
i guess we have to surprise everyone..... AGAIN
Whats so hard to believe about Washington first in the East ? they had one of the best records once boudreau took over last year . Remember the start they got off to last season? thats the only reason they didn't pace higher. This year as well they are getting back Nylander and Clark to add to their lines . Plus Theodore will be solid enough to get them the wins.
Wow thanks for commin out...way off on who makes the playoffs.
I think our defense is much under-rated. Alot of young kids that are developing pretty well. We are more concerned about our last line of defense...but hey I like the confidence in us!I have:1. Pittsburgh2. Washington3. Montreal4. Philly ( finishing 2nd overall in points)I think on paper those 4 teams are clearly the class of the East, but paper and reality are 2 different things.5. NYRI think the bottom 3 teams can be won by 6 teams, but here's my guess.6. NJD7. Buffalo8. CarolinaJUst out: Tampa, Ottawa, Boston
I don't think Theodore inb Washington is going to work out. If you ask me, the Capitals goaltending situation got a whole lot worse, not better. If you ask me who I'd rather have in net between Huet, Kolzig or Theodore... I think Theodore would be ath the bottom of my list. He had a decent season last year, but historically no-one has been able to bank on this guy since his Hart Trophy. Also, the defence. Mike Green is not a Norris Trophy candidate (as someone suggested he may be). He's a purely offensive defenseman. When was the last time such a player won the Norris? He had 56 points, and a /- of 6. Something doesn't added up in his defensive game. Tom Poti is solid, but I wouldn't consider him top notch, the saem with the rest of the defensive core. Did anyone watch the Philly/Washington series last year? At times the Washington defence looked completely lost in their defensive zone, and no-one could make a good break-out pass. COULD Washington finish first? Yes, it's possible. Do I think it will happen? No. They have to many things working against them. When you look at teams like Pittsburgh and Montreal, they have so much more scoring depth, defensive depth, and goaltending depth than Washington. Washington is basically gonna ride Ovechkin. If he goes down, then the team is doomed. Now, compare that with Pittsburgh. They lost Crosby and Fleury last season for extended periods of time and still finished 2 points out of first. Montreal saw players like Koivu and Ryder drop in scoring, and lost Mike Komisarek for most of the season, played a rookie goalie, and they still finished first. IF it weren't for Huet's run towards the end of the season, Washington doesn't make it to the playoffs. Washington doesn't have the necessary components in all areas to get first overall in my opinion.
