Anaheim is in an awkward spot. Their former undisputed number one starter is struggling . Giguere this year in 31 games has posted a 12-12-6 record with 3.08GAA and .904% . A severe drop from his numbers last year.
Which has led to the emergence of once back up goalie Jonas Hiller to split the time with Giguere. Hiller this season sits at in 26 games playyed a 12-10-5 record with a 2.14GAA and .926%. The once backup goalie to Giguere has been starting games on an equal pace with Giguere and has so far been outplaying his former mentor.
Which leads one to wonder if the Ducks would look to deal Giguere and go with Hiller as their number one. For the Ducks this would free up crucial cap space needed for them to be able to maneuver at the deadline , to perhaps add a few pieces for a stronger playoff push . If dealt the salary of Giguere's six million would free up a total of 7.5 million in available space for the Ducks. Obviously some type of goalie would have to come back for the trade , not for just that teams sake but for the Ducks as well in case Hiller should falter.
In my opinion, I would still stick with Giguere for the duration of the season. As though Hiller is performing well for regular seasons. He is yet to be properly tested in all situations and unlike Giguere is not a proven playoff goalie quite yet.
That is my opinion, but what do the rest of you think?
maybe a guy by the name of Scott Clemmenson could be very helpfull..check out his his stats. he also can be had for a reasonable price if you have the pieces to move to aquire him...
i would go for clemmenson
Clemsen wouldn't be bad for the Ducks . But somehow I don't see a Brodeur-Giguere Tandem going over that well .
J.S.'s head hasn't been right since his father became gravelly ill and eventually passed away. Hiller has played well but he is still learning and has a tendency to let in a bad goal almost every time he plays. I don't know what team would be willing to take on Giguere's $6 mil salary not to mention he is the only Duck with a no-trade clause. It's a tough call, if the Ducks make the playoffs I'm sure they'd want Giguere in goal but can they get to the playoffs with Giguere in goal?
sometimes as a GM you have to take chances, and I would take the Hiller chance in this situation....Anaheim can very well win the Western Conference with their D and depth, for once in a very long while I do not believe goaltending will lead you out of the West
giguerre anytime.That's it
