Despite playing their second game in less than 24 hours, the Sabres didn’t show any signs of fatigue. The Sabres saluted the fans before leaving the ice, pointing their sticks toward the No. 7 banner.
The Sabres honored Rick Martin as all the team wore stickers on their helmets. Ryan Miller got a day of rest on Sunday as Jhonas Enroth received the start in net against Ottawa.
10 different Sabres earned at least a point in the 6-4 victory over Ottawa on Sunday.
Mike Weber had three assists and Enroth earned his first NHL victory in regulation.
Once again, the Sabres scored first in this one, but allowed the opposition to tie it up. Tyler Ennis opened the scoring with his 16th goal of the season. Ottawa cashed in just seconds after receiving its first power play opportunity with a goal from Jason Spezza.
The Sabres regained the lead when Thomas Vanek busted through the defense and beat Anderson. The Senators’ Colin Greening scored on what looked to be a broken play to knot the game at two.
The offensive battle continued in the second period. Buffalo broke the period open with two goals 33 seconds apart. Tyler Ennis tallied his second goal of the night and Paul Gaustad knocked home a rebound to put the Sabres up 4-2.
