There it is again. The Sabres had one of their betterperformances of the season, but in the end, it’s just another loss. Another one goal loss, too.

Buffalo fell to 0-6-1 at home this year, losing 3-2 to Montreal at HSBC Arena on Friday night. Mike Grier scored his first goal of the season and Jordan Leopold added his fourth. Buffalo had two separate one goal leads, but gave them up quickly and couldn’t comeback against the Canadiens.

Patrick Lalime stopped 29 of 32 shots, allowing what would be the game winning goal in the second period. It was a shot that Lalime should have had, and it shows how much the Sabres are relying on their goaltending.

Montreal outshot Buffalo 32-31 and was able to hold on for its second victory of the season over the Sabres, both at HSBC Arena.

Drew Stafford left the game with an upper-body injury. The last time the Sabres started the season without a home win in seven attempts was 1993.
