The Sabres collapse against the Nashville Predators on Sunday is always going to be a nasty memory for the players and the fans. But if there’s any guaranteed way to alleviate that pain, it’s the complete stifling of a bitter division rival two nights later.
A loud and passionate crowd filled Montreal’s Bell Centre, which cheered whenever the Habs initiated any sort of rush into the Sabres’ zone, and booed any time the home team was called for a penalty. Both Buffalo and Montreal tested the opposing goaltender throughout the first period, but Ryan Miller and Carey Price were absolutely stellar any time the puck came their way.
It wasn’t until nearly the midway point of the game when the first goal was scored. Tyler Myers fired a rocket of a shot from the point, which Nathan Gerbe deflected past Price as he skated past the Montreal net to earn his 12th of the season.
Montreal made things interesting towards the end of the second period as they applied pressure in the Buffalo zone. Miller found himself being assailed by shots, and at one point had to reach out while lying on his stomach to grab a puck as it slid through the crease.

are we talking about the same nathan gerbe who some (one in particular) said wouldn't see 30 GAMES in the nhl, much less 30 goals?...are we talking about the same buffalo sabres who were left for dead, by nearly everyone, as late as mid-december?...still games to play, but five of six points while playing three games in four nights looks pretty good
question, buzzards?...would gerbe be on the team if tim kennedy were signed?...or would he be in the minors?...especially in light of gerbe's first two-and-a-half months this season...bucky gleason is still whining about the loss of tim kennedy...methinks he should take some flak in his "chat" tomorrow : )
