Sold! To __________ for ___________. Now we have to fill in the blanks with the best team/ player possible! Sounds like fun, right? The problem is, no team really wants Hemsky. So what do the Oilers do?
First, they have to find a team that,
1) Has enough cap space to bring in a 5.5 million dollar contract, and
2) Needs a top 6 forward.
Then they have to make a trade proposal to the team and hope that they don't have to take a bad contract back. Sounds easy right? Let's hope so.
So there are 9 teams according to capgeek that have 5.5 million + in cap room. These teams are, Pheonix, St. Louis, Calgary, New Jersey, Colorado, Buffalo, Ottawa, Florida and the New York Islanders. You can take New Jersey, Ottawa and Florida off this list because they work on a "self set cap" of sorts that the owner sets because they're not as loaded as the average NHL team owner. So that leaves 6 teams that have the cap space to take on Hemsky. That's good, but now for the second step, which of these teams need a top 6 forward?
The teams that need a top 6 forward off this list are, Calgary and New York in my opinion. Unless Clutterbuck's a top 6 forward. He isn't in my opinion but who knows? Maybe the Islanders think he is? Crazier things have happened. Anyways, out of these two teams I think it's more likely for Edmonton to make a trade with New York, not Calgary. Just think about it, Calgary and Edmonton are life-long rivals, what are the chances they make a trade together? Not high. So, if the Oilers where to trade Hemsky to the Islanders, what would they get for him?
Looking at the Islanders roster and thinking about the Oilers needs, I see 2 players that could be a possible fit. Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck. They are both 3rd line players with grit which is exactly what the Oilers need. Given that the Islanders just traded for Clutterbuck I doubt they would give him up, so that leaves Martin. But would Hemsky be enough for Martin?
My hope is that Hemsky starts the season with Edmonton playing in the top 6 while Nuge is hurt, that he plays good, raises his trade value and then the Oilers will be able to trade him. Maybe even for Martin strait up. That's best case scenario. Worst case scenario is he gets hurt again and the Oilers get nothing for him. My guess is somewhere in the middle. Hopefully. I probably just jinxed it.
So now, for the epic conclusion to the blog.
Hemsky,
Going Once,
Going Twice,
Sold! To the New York Islanders for Matt Martin! (Hopefully)
If you want to do a blog please, minimally, spell names properly (i.e. Clutterbuck, not Clutterbug)
fixed
Maybe the Islanders could trade you a used Dildo for Hemsky...all hes worth

Depends on who used the dildo.
Obviously pink sock in his ass, then mouth.
Cap hit is 5 million, not 5.5You could also look at teams with 3 mil or so in cap space and take back a player making 2 or more. Gives a lot more options.
Also the Oilers could retain some of Hemmers salary.
The devils have billionaire owners now....
you are not old enough to remember the Flames and Oil have traded...Steve Staios for Aaron Johnson. And sorry, you guys are going to have a hell of a time trading Hemsky.
Grant Fuhr used the Dildo one time all high on coke
