With a simple flick of the wrist, everything on the west coast was settled. For now, Trevor Linden returning to the Vancouver Canucks line-up for yet another season simply eases the pain in waiting for the next debacle as the faithful wait for the arrival of yet another jersey. When training camp begins, Trevor Linden will bring a sense of stability to a line-up that for the most part of the past two seasons has been shuffled and re-shuffled. In January, Trevor Linden will provide a key goal or block a point-shot or make a thunderous body-check that changes the pace of the game. All this in-between stops at Canuck Place children’s hospice. Finally, in April, Trevor Linden will provide the type of leadership that is required to lead a team to the playoffs; through all the grueling battles and at the end of it all, you will realize what this man means to the city of Vancouver.
Growing up a hockey fan since my first breath, I cannot remember a player that ‘fit’ with the Canucks more than Trevor Linden. I cannot remember a player that meant more to this city than Trevor Linden.
Yes, Trevor has his critics and most of the arguments against some of his hockey talents can be argued with validity, however, to argue against his intangible assets, you are not a sports fan.
Trevor Linden is not the most talented hockey player to ever wear the Canucks jersey (what ever logo, colour or style it maybe), but since the first time he donned the Canuck logo, he is what means. What it means to be a Canuck.
hey man, nice blog!! I agree with you, all is well in Canuckland!!! Now we need to sign one more forward with scoring potential and we just may go deep in to the play-offs. Good work!
They should challenge for the division, I love how close this division is, great hockey. There is that off chance that last foward would be forsberg...
The team's heart is now in place where it belongs, all is certainly well! It doesn't hurt having 4M dollars left to spend either!
Please guys. I want you to look at what I am writing. The Canucks have had some decent teams in the past, and I am happy for you. Stick a fork in your club ! Your club will not make the play-offs this year, and maybe not the year after. But dont feel bad, the Flames will make the playoffs in the last spot, but get bounced in the first round.... This division for the near future will be controlled by the Wild and Avalanche
if the canucks make the playoffs this year it will be because of luongo and no other reason. having trevor linden as part of your city would be an asset in any town. but...on the ice, his time is done. i know i'm going to catch flack for this comment and people are going to take shots at me beloved oil, but that's how i feel.
Yup, any success the canucks have this coming season will be attributed primarily to Luongo, there's no escaping that, and canuck fans certainly won't apologize for it. They do have a solid defense core however, so that should be recognized by knowledgeable hockey fans, even if they are Oiler, Wild and Flame fans. The question mark is scoring again - we all can see that. As for predictions, you can place any of the Wild, Flames, Avs, and Canucks at the top of the division and be completely justified There really isn't much to choose from between those teams on paper. Its going to be another wild ride in the NW this season.
