I knew some club would find value in Dan Fritsche. Minnesota general manager Doug Risebrough seemed to find some,recognizing Dans versatillity. The Rangers get back Eric Reitz a 26 year old D- Man from Michigan. With one goal in 31 games in Minnesota the Rangers will have depth on the blue line. The question is are the Rangers not yet ready to promote Hartford kids Corey Potter and Bobby Sanguinetti. Sanguinetti missed the AHL ALL -Star game with a facial injury from a deflected puck.

I am hoping that they move Kalinin's contract and bring in Potter. Sanguinetti could use more time, Potter is ready to roll. Reitz will be not much more than a spare but I hope he plays right away inplace of KalininThey have to think about the cap and carrying a 6th Dman that makes 2.2 million is not a good idea. This deal saves very little in terms of the cap. Fritsche should do well in Minnesota, good team for him
this is a shot in the dark by sather that could end up being a decent deal. sanguinetti isn't likely to come up and play regularly. he's taken big strides in his defensive game this year but he's still getting destroyed in the /-. he could use some more time to progress in his own zone. the same can be said about del zotto. he's had a great year thus far and i know he had a good camp this year as well but he's still likely at least another year away.i think the reitz deal was solid. most people have been saying that reitz is going to be sent straight to hartford but i wouldn't bank on that just yet. danny fritsche struggled to find himself in ny and picking up reitz allows us to sit kalinin down if reitz shows he can consistently handle playing regularly. im guessing here but i bet reitz gets into one of these next games in place for kalinin. reitz may eventually take kalinin's starting spot but i can't see this team waiving kalinin and calling up potter/sauer/sanguinetti to replace him at this point in the season. we've been fortunate with injuries thus far, if we have an injury riddled second half, and i never thought id say this but we may need kalinin to step back in. remember, this is all if reitz actually gets a shot and we sit down kalinin for a few nights. i still don't understand how this team has salary cap issues but refused to waive kalinin in the first half of the season and replace him with corey potter. potter basically made the team out of camp but was held out because we had so many forwards. interesting thought but if we had training camp today without fritsche, potter would be on this team and we would have had a 7th defensemen in the line up from day one. we also would've given potter, a rookie defensemen a shot to adjust to the nhl game at the beginning of the season when points are easier to come by. puts it all in perspective doesn't it?none the less, if we can manage to lose redden and kalinin were going to have a solid defensive corp in a few years. staal gets better every game.sanguinetti will eventually get there.del zotto reminds me of a young matthieu schneider.potter looks to be a solid shut down guy with some size.
oh and a side note.........can someone from this site PLEASE remove Rissmillers salary from the cap total. he is in the minors now and DOES NOT COUNT ON THE CAP........obviously the Rangers are underso just move the guy off that list and to the bottom of possible call ups....Please pass this along
also , I think some team will take Kalinin at the deadline. Rangers will look to get another physical Dman in but Reitz should get a shot to see if he can lock down teh 6th spot.........I agree Potter should be there though

I am glad your team is 2-0 against the Rangers but that has absolutely nothing to with anything. We lost Jagr Strake Shanny Tyutin and Avery and added Zherdev Naslund Kalinin and Redden who are both terrible and we still have the record we do. You coming on here telling us Ranger fans that it sucks for us to have Drury and Kalinin is a joke considering most Sabres fans would love to have Drury still on the team. Talk to me when your ahead of us in the standing.

I disagree the Rangers are not the most dissapointing team and either are the Sabre's. My team the Toronto Maple Leafs own that title LOL :(
How are the leafs the biggest dissapointment? They weren't supposed to make the playoffs. You guys have some promising players that are having great seasons. Barry melrose says that youre the most dissapoiting team. With the money you spend you should be #1. I live in Buffalo and no one wishes they had Drury back. All he is, is getting older and producing less. Both breire and Drury benifited from our system. On another team they are mediocre and Im proving to be right. Drury has the same stats as people who make 7 mill less alla Clarke MacArthur. Oh by the way remember GAME 5 AND WELL GAME 6? " -- so these players that you have mentioned can do it, yet you didnt make the playoffs when briere and drury left. also, im pretty sure that all of those guys you mentioned, excluding rivet, were on the team that took you 3 rounds, and you still had your best 2 players Drury and Briere. 2. Roy Vanek Pominville werent the face of the team. They can shine now. Thats the statistics for you. They used to be hidden on the 3rd and 4th line. Briere and Drury combined the last two years do no even have as many points as roy. So yes Roy is better, Vanek is the nhls 3rd goal scorer, and pominville has played better as well. Please Clarke MacArthur has done as good as Drury. Barry is a former caoch, he knows more then you and me right now. My team will most likley make the playoffs and they will upset. Avery is a cancer!
