AVERY STILL NOT SIGNED

Posted 1:33 PM ET | Comments 7
This is a follow up to an early blog this season. I am still waiting to see if any fans are ready to put together the petition to bring back #16. If Sather lets Sean Avery walk, Aves will have no problem getting big market clubs to take him on.

Toronto- The hometown kid can not only replace #16 but put on Tuckers jersey as well. Avery could provide the leafs with just the media hype the club loves. Not to mention he can play.

Buffalo- Avery fits nice into the Sabres gritty hitting style and is only a few mins from the border. But Buffalo may not be the Cosmo city that Avery meshes
with.

Montreal- The Habs are a top club that could use some extra flair on the wing. He defines grit and Montreal needs hitters. They tried to bring in Garth Murray and it didn't work. They have some edge on D but Avery would draw a lot of clubs into yet another lethal Habs PP. Plus Montreal is well Montreal ,women, nightlife, fashion, and money.

San Jose- The Sharks were bounced again this year and the club looked to deal Steve Bernier to the Rangers for Avery. The young power foward would then be packaged to Buffalo in the Campbell deal.( see the Ny post) Now the Sharks have a chance to add him for nothing but money and have a few spots and dollars open to do it. Avery still owns a house in California and the Sharks are still a hell of a club. Playing with Joe T would be something.

Florida & Tampa

Both teams have the weather and are on the verge of serious potential. The Lightning have a lack of depth on the wing and after Halperns injury could use Avery at center. The Panthers have some room to play with a few players falling of the cap. With a team that likes to hit, having Avery on the wing gives them an edge in the Southeast Division.

Chicago

Again, the Hawks are a young team thats on the rise. The team just put the original 6 club back on home telecasts last season. What better draw than to have Sean Avery at the United Center. He sure as hell can skate with Towes and Kane and brings back that old Hawks edge. Playing in Chicago Avery also gets the city he craves.

Don't Count Out.......Boston or NJ

The Bruins are looking to shed some players like,Glen Murray and may look to move Phil Kessel. If they can open up cap space, theres no way Boston fans wouldn't start Avery fan clubs all the way to Leominster. They fell for the one time Ranger PJ Stock and hes not even half the player Avery is. Avery skated with Gomez, could play with Savard in a heartbeat. NJ is a nightmare of a wild card. What better way to get the Marty killer off the ice than to put him in your jersey. The Devils would really get their rivals back by adding a guy who excels at MSG and in Newark. Plus with just a 10 min train ride from the NY Avery stays in the city he loves. YIKES..

SATHER SAVE US THE NIGHTMARE.TAKE CARE OF THE KID! DUMMY

Avery played his last game as a Ranger, after last summer arbitration hearing this is a foregone conclusion

I hope Sather gets hit with a golf ball and wakes up this next week or two. But if Avery leaves it wouldn't suprise me.

Great THN cover of Avery. By the way, owning a house in CA and using that as a point to say Avery could play for San Jose is like playing for the Rags and owning a flat in Manahattan and using that, in some plausible way, to say he could play for Buffalo because he owns a condo in NY???

I agree, he is the absolute MUST sign for our Rangers. But there's no way that the Devils sign him... I'd fear the Islander's snatching him with a big contract than him going to NJ. Brodeur is that franchise, and he would never allow it. Its clearly not just a fierce hockey rivalry for him, its personal. He's got the clout to block it, he's the best Devil in franchise history. Otherwise, I think those are all legit reasons that Avery would go anywhere else. If Sather doesn't resign him, I'm going to have a hard time being happy with our team, no matter who gets signed. We could get Sundin, Hossa, and Rolston, and losing Avery would hurt too much to be pleased.

Wow, Buffalo referred to as gritty I am surprised. Normally we're thought of as finesse without the physicality. Either way, no way I want Avery here. I don't even think the guy should be allowed to play in the league due to his classlessness. I admit, however, he has done the Rangers well and their record with him proves the point. I just don't like how he does it.

DucksFan I hear ya, but just wanted to make it clear that Avery Loves Cali and that if the Sharks or Ducks came sniffing they may have an edge over other clubs because of thier location. CILEVEL, I know you may not like Avery now. However, the min he puts on a Sabres Jersey and gets the leafs/Sens off thier game in a Mid Dec match you'll see a few extra jerseys in the stands after X-mas!

There is no way he comes to Toronto - He hates Canadian media, rips it at every chance he gets and would spend more time fighting with the media then he would fighting on the ice. Not worth the headache. I would take Roenick over Avery anyday.
