The Ducks and Canucks just finished game 3 of their Western Conference Semi-Final and while some may question some of the calls during the game a further look shows you that clearly the referee's made the correct calls. Yes, the Ducks were called for 6 mins in penalties more, there were several justifiable calls made in the game.
In fact, being a Canuck fan I would question calling Ryan Getzlaf for the trip when clearly the Canuck rookie Alex Edler tried to sell the call with an Oscar worthy dive. The premiss behind the trip/hook and a dive call is really questionable in my mind, especially in such obvious situations as tonight. Personally, I feel the referee should be given the opportunity to call either both or just the dive in some instances.
Regardless, the Canucks have got to learn to finish on the power-play opportunities if they have any hope in evening up the series on Tuesday. As for the Ducks, it's really fortunate for them that the Canucks have a terrible power-play.
Although the Canucks ended the game with the advatange in number of power-plays the referee's were very clear to indicate the standard for this evenings game. It was a matter of taking advantage of your opportunity, the Ducks did and the Canucks continued to struggle.
They were penalties!
Once again...Another game for your Canucks and the Refs trying their best to make some makeup calls from the previous game...I don't think all of those calls were necessary...Like the one on Pronger, that was not hooking...I think it is just crazy for the Refs to call so many penalties in one game, since it takes away all the good actions from the game...Specially since Canucks suck on PP, and there is no action on their PP.
the biggest flaw of our power play is that we have a hard time carrying it in and we don't win enough loose pucks. Funny how its completely opposite on the penalty kill. We actually get to the loose pucks!
Canucks will not beat Anaheim from in the penalty box. They must stop taking so many penalties. It doesn't matter how many penalties the Ducks take -- Canucks can't respond quickly enough on the power play to pressure to be effective.
