Getting right into the Downie thing:
-Yes, dirty hit
-Yes, deserves a suspension of at LEAST five games
-Should Downie be banned for life or even 20 games? No.
Look at the replay closely. He doesn't lead with the elbow and honestly it's really borderline if he leaves his feet BEFORE the contact. Based on Downie's past he deserves to not be treated as a first timer offender and honestly, if it helps him rein in his aggression, it's beneficial to the Flyers and Downie.
-If Anze Kopitar keeps up his incredible preseason goal binge, the Kings could be a tough playoff match-up in the west. We all knew the kid had skills, but he's been a beast. Maybe getting shorted on the Calder race got him motivated.
-Michael Vick might be the dumbest guy in all professional sports
-I was a little bummed to see Ryan Parent headed to the AHL. I got to see him at rookie camp and in a couple games and he looked very solid. He isn't far from the NHL.
-Why is changing starters such huge news? Rex Grossman has been the worst NFL starting QB over the past 12 or 13 games, according to ESPN. Why is anyone stunned and why is it big news that they changed qbs?
-Hope Solo was very candid and correct in her savaging of Briana Scurry and the US soccer team coach. That ploy is utter bush league. Solo was riding a near 300 minute shutout streak and to replace her in that manner was just stupid.

OMG WTF??!??? Downie should be euthanized, you homer!! Kidding, of course. On Parent, he needs more minutes than he'd see in Philly with Gauthier still in town, imo.
I realize about Parent, still a lil bummed.
I agree - unfortunately I think Downie will be suspended for 15 games. No way does he get more than Chris Simon and I hope Holmgren presents this to Colin Campbell. He should also get the tapes of hits just like that and show that there wasn't a suspension or that much of one if so.
I think 15 would be somewhat acceptable. I think 10 is a fair suspension based on Downie's history in juniors and the WJC.
I think 5 is fair with his reputation -- but they have to make an "example" out of downie. which is ridiculous
Downie got five games, thats a bit harsh. I thought he'd get ten, and I felt that would have been appropriate.
