Last Nights Game: Two things went wrong for the Preds last night. We ran up against a goalie who stood on his head and won that game single handily for his team and the second thing that went wrong was the referee crew. Yes I've read the comments that running into a goalie gives you a free pass most times on retaliating but last night went over the line. Why Chara or for that matter Thomas did not get call I do not know. The call on Arnott was ludicrous. He must have insulted someone's mother because last time I checked a captain has the right to dispute calls with the officials. It's his job. If you have read my blogs you know that I typically don't call out the refs. I am a firm believer in the theory that these things work themselves out over the course of a season. We're gonna get some calls like that back in time (a quick whistle during the January 21st game against St. Louis led to a disallowed goal by the Blues that could have counted).

To Deal Or Not To Deal?: Man that is the question! A question being face by several teams right now as they try desperately to get into the playoffs. I believe the Preds are a bit different than most teams right now. I think that the ownership realizes how important it is for this team to make the playoffs and how vital it is that something is done to generate some major buzz about this team. In my mind, despite what David Poile is saying publicly, translates to a need to make a deal. For the Preds that could mean making a deal before they would like. It means that some of our depth at D will be gone and some draft pick as well but this team and this city are about now because whether we like to admit it or not, we may not have hockey here forever.

This Guy Won't Quit: Everyone has to agree that Pred forward JP dumont has elevated his game to another level. Gone is the occasional lazy shift he had been known for in the past. Instead we see a JP that is involved in every play, playing tough on the boards and putting points on the board. His assist on Radulov's goal last night brought his scoring streak to 15 games (the longest active current streak in the NHL). JP has found a system that he fits in and my hope is that the Preds find a way to keep him around next year.

Forsberg: Man the talk surrounding this guy is unreal. He's coming back. He isn't. The ever changing list of teams that he'll consider morphs from day to day. Eklunds most recent addition of "Days of Our Foppa" have him not returning to the NHL this year. This would really change the trade market as teams that were holding out hope of his return may have to look elsewhere. The good news is that means that the Wings won't get him this year!
