It is 2:34am as I am finally home and headed to bed. I had to get a few thoughts in first ... there will be more tomorrow.
WOW ... that was one helluva game ... playoff hockey at its finest! Turco and Nabokov were OUTSTANDING! I cannot wait to watch the game on DVR and hear the call from Ralph and Razor! So much for the blowout ... but who knew Mr. Vezina would show up tonight! I think shots ended up 62-55, San Jose, and hits were an unbelievabe 88-54 Dallas.
Fittingly, Brendan Morrow ended the game with his 7th of the playoffs. He also finished with 19 hits -- 22% of the Dallas' 88 total hits ... UNREAL! The guy is an absolute beast. Tip said it best,
these guys believe in themselves and Brendan tells them, 'cmon, get on my back'! Regardless of how the playoffs finish off, Brendan could be given the Conn Smythe trophy today. I'm quite certain that if you looked up the definition of Conn Smythe, you'd see his picture. The Captain is playing out of this world.
Each team took a penalty in the overtimes, so I have no problem with the way we won the game.
MAR-TY, MAR-TY, MAR-TY, MAR-TY, MAR-TY!!!!!
I really hope everyone in the hockey world and the Detroit Red Wings continue to not give Dallas a chance!
BELIEVE!
GO STARS!!!
Oh come on now. Yes, Morrow has been great, but this would have been a very short series if it wasn't for Turco. The man carried his team on his back stopping more rubber than the Slovenian goalie in the World Championships. Turco has finally exorcised his playoff curse and he is carrying the team on his back.
No doubt! But Marty was spectacular against Vancouver last year and the team just could not score. Brendan has set the physical tone and put the puck in the net often.
I'm glad to see Marty erase his playoff-soft rep. Fantastic game.
I fell asleep during the intermission going into the 2nd ot, was everyone still standing!?!
23 - I am now up to a 50% belief level.....because the Stars are only 50% of the way to winning the Cup. With that being said, the WCF should be really good. The WCF winner will win the Cup. As for mentioning Morrow with Conn Smyth. That award usually gets awarded to a player at the conclusion of the SC Finals and most often to a player that wins the Cup. You are a talented writer, but put the cart waaaaay before the horse really often. Good luck.
Hehe! Thanks! It is on purpose, by the way ... there are plenty of people who get paid to write and be objective ... I love the fact that I can be a homer on this site and while the STARS are winning and playing well, I'm gonna do just that! Plenty of time for objectivity AFTER the season is over for the STARS (which, in this case, will be late June!)!!!
