I had prepared to write this blog a few days ago after the Stars had lost their 5th straight game ... the original title was to be
Is this the Beginning of the End for the Dallas Stars? But for some reason I never took the time to sit down and finish it. But I'm glad I didn't, because after the first period at the Shark Tank tonight I've seen enough to tell me that this Stars team is far from finished. There was more effort in the first seven minutes of the game than there has been for 3+ games. Tons of pressure ... outshooting by a large margin ... early, hard-fought goal ... Brunnstrom is flying ... Modano, Eriksson, Neal, Parrish, Ribeiro, Lehtinen ... all playing much, much better. This may not last but Daley was back on the right point during a power play, which is an excellent move by the staff ... he is completely wasted on the left point. Barch had a good scrap and guys are finishing checks ... and TAKING UP FOR EACH OTHER ... which has been sorely lacking. Now they go into the second period with 2 minutes of 4-on-4 followed by a 3-minute major. Pavelski gets tagged with a 5-minute major and a 10-minute game misconduct for head butting. So I guess that makes up for Otter's the other day!
More in a bit . . .
Turns out it was the Beginning of the End... especially once Richards got hurt again
