Watched the Chicago and Detroit game last night...that was fun. Those teams really went at one another and the result was hockey like it's meant to be played. The points were important to both teams, moreso the Hawks than the Wings, but it never really seemed like either was playing for the point/points. It was more about beating the "rival"...and that's the way it is supposed to be.

Hoping to see that tonight with the Flyers and Penguins.

Marian Hossa was on top of his game last night. I thought it was funny how the Red Wing fans booed him. It reminded me of how the Penguin fans booed him.

After watching him play last night, I think it's safe to say BOTH fan groups boo because we'd rather have the guy on our team.

When he's playing like he did last night, he's a force at both ends of the ice, and can skate, pass and shoot like very few players in the league.

Despite everything that happened with him in Pittsburgh, I still really like the guy.

The Ducks won a game against the...lowly...sorry Avs fans...Colorado Avalanche last night.

It was a "trap" game as they are called, because the Ducks just finished a strong road trip and returned home to face one of the worst teams in the league. It was one of those games that's easy to lose...and the Ducks gave up 2 early goals and looked like they fell right into the trap.

Teemu Selanne rescued the team...again. This guy is unreal with his ability to rise to the occasion. He can still skate and shoot like someone 10 years younger.

The Ducks are probably going to be a VERY SCARY 6, 7 or 8 seed in the WEST. With as much offensive talent as they have, and with the experience they have, if they get good goaltending, they can beat ANYBODY in the WEST.

I have been watching the Penguins all season...and recently I have been even more impressed with their ability to keep teams from scoring goals and win these 1 goal games.

As impressive as that is, this recent streak of 4 shootout wins in a row has me more than a bit concerned.

Being involved in and winning close games is very important come playoff time, so these games definitely help the team deal with that pressure. But the playoffs don't offer shootouts and the Penguins could have just as easily been at 94 points (or fewer) right now instead of 98.

Don't get me wrong...I still like this team...and they way they are playing...but managing to win more games when there's more than a skater and goalie on the ice would go a long way toward making me feel better about our chances come mid April.

Maybe the good news surrounding "the best 3rd line player in hockey" will continue and our offense will get a nice boost come playoff time.

While the work ethic and determination these guys display on a daily basis is very impressive, a goal or two more per game would sure help win a playoff series.
