What I'm Waiting for...

Posted 12:46 PM ET | Comments 2
The NHL says it's waiting for the players to make a 'take it leave it' offer.

The NHLPA says it's waiting for the league to 'resume talks'.

You know what I am waiting for?

I am waiting for:

A simple display of common sense by both parties that will allow an agreement to be reached before the NHL cancels ANOTHER season.

Some kind of understanding that a partnership is what both sides have...or will have...regardless of how much they destroy what is in place now.

Grown men...supposedly intent on resolving a conflict...acting like grown men and resolving the conflict.

Somebody to stand up...break the ranks and say 'enough is enough'...we're all acting like a-holes!!!

I know at this point it might seem like I am waiting for hell to freeze over...which in fact might happen sooner than this lockout is resolved...but really I am waiting for one thing:

The NHL and NHLPA to live up to the reputation that hockey players, coaches and owners - USED TO HAVE - of being some of the nicest and most down to earth people in all of professional sports...and treating each other that way so we can end this childlike argument and get on with playing the games.

P.S. There is a strange irony in that comment...'childlike argument'. They do all realize that billions of dollars are made playing a child's game, right? They are not solving world hunger, curing cancer, or planning a mission to Mars. Maybe that, in itself, is part of the problem. They simply are taking themselves too seriously. There's a lot of money to be made playing a child's game. Play nice...split it up fairly and enjoy it. Really...it should be that simple.
