The Penguins are
TOAST.
I'm as big a fan as anyone...and I desperately want them to win Game 7 on Wednesday night...but my gut tells me this series is
OVER.
After watching them get outscored 12-4 and outplayed by almost the same amount in games 5 and 6, there is nothing I see that tells me this team will win game 7.
Without Sid and Geno...with a recent history of a home game 7 debacle (last year against the Montreal Smurfs)...and with a power play that's so bad it defies logic...try as I might, I can't find ONE SINGLE reason to think we will win Wednesday night.
NOT ONE.
Can anybody give me some shred of hope to hang onto?
Sure, I will watch the game.
I will scream at my tv.
I will cheer like I am in the stands.
But everything I have seen tells me Thursday morning I will be reading about how the Lightning are only the second team in the history of the Pens to come from a 3-1 deficit to win a series against us.
I hope I am wrong...and that's about the only hope I have right now.

Marc Andre Fleury! Thats one reason right there. Think about it this way. If talbot scores on that breakaway after staal tied it up, its a completly different game. We are better then tampa 5-5. They just have to keep it simple and get some bounces.
Tampa fans felt the same way as you after game 4. This is just how playoffs go there are ups and downs but you have to be even keeled to move on. Philly is sweating like crazy today and 2 weeks before playoffs started they were picked to win it all.
Come on!!! Your really giving up? WTF!! Imagine your Vancouver. As much as I'm rooting for TB I still feel the Pens will win game 7. TB either shows up or they don't. Long story short it's Fleury vs. Roloson. Game on. Good luck freak13!!
No...I'm not giving up...but I don't see anything in the past 2 games that makes me think we will win. The ONLY thing I have come up with is that HOPEFULLY they think they are better than they have played and they're determined to prove it. If they don't think that way by now...we are in real trouble.
I reall don't believe Philly is sweating. The pressure is all on the Sabres because they had Philly on the ropes and let them crawl back in the series. Now it's a game of chicken. The same goes with the Pens, whoever plays closer to their system, will win. The overall better team will win.
I can't see Philly losing...as long as they get decent goaltending. I know that's a BIG IF, but the series would have probably been over by now if one of the Flyer goalies had been able to play well enough.
sportsfreak13 - I hope we see Stanley Cup Final Game 7 MAF and not Pens vs Canadiens 2010 Game 7 MAF. Having "been there and done that"...you would think Fleury will be able to rise to the occasion...but I thought that last year against the Canadiens and we all know how that turned out.
I agree Ice...I don't understand how the Flyers will invest money into every position other then goaltending...buy hey i'm not the GM...and i like Homer...LOL
thanks isle4now4cup! Also you couldnt of said it better phi1671 whoever plays their system best wins. If its a shootout lightning win if its a defensive battle pens win! As much as it pains me to say good luck today phi1671!
I agree with you also icedog97, i am really hoping we see stanley cup final game 7 fleury! Were only 13 games away from our goal and there is no quit in this team.
Thanks sports...I always enjoy a nice conversation about the sport. Good Luck as well.
I have come up with another line of thinking...our penalty kill, power play and goaltending CAN'T ALL be bad again in game 7...can they? Fleury played OK in game 6. We need a little better in game 7. Then if 1 of the penalty kill or power play can be good (100% on the kill and/or 1 or 2 ppg's) then we can win this game. So I am hoping we get good goaltending and a some scoring on our power play (assuming we play well enough to get the chances).
Well, I was on the edge of my seat most of the night...but when we got the powerplay with 1:33 left in the game, all I could think of was how fitting it was that we would probably finish/lose the series on the powerplay. We got good goaltending...good PK...decent 5 on 5 play (didn't score)...but once again...0 for 5 on the power play. 0 for 25 at home...1 for 35 in the series. OUCH.
Its still remarkable what they accomplished this year. Theres no reason they should hang their heads because they gave it 100%. Heres to hoping next year we stay a bit more healthy. Must keeps are adams and dupuis. Would love to keep talbot and rupp and conner and asham but you cant keep them all. Nice knowing you comrie and kovalev.
