Pathetic. That's the best way to describe the effort put forth by the Preds in a 5-2 loss against the Blackhawks.
It all started last night with lackadaisical goaltending from Chris Mason who gave up two goals on two shots before being pulled. Dan Ellis could do no better giving Chicago their third goal on only their fourth shot. I knew then it was going to be a long night. Sure we could complain about the reverse call on Radulov's goal (honestly I couldn't tell where he touched the puck) but the fact remains that if you give a team a three goal lead you can't place blame anywhere else.
Apparently the team held a closed door meeting last night. While I'm encouraged by that, part of me thinks that this meeting should have happened after Tuesdays loss in Minnesota or maybe after the back to back losses against the Av's. It's like losing five in a row is the magic number where you realize something is amiss...funny I don't think it took the fans that long!
All I can see is that I am thankful for DVR. I had to pause the game for a while to get my little girl down for bed...luckily at a point I was able to fast forward and not subject myself to the torture that this game was.
Whats Next? Well the Preds head home for a Saturday date with the Kings, the only team in the West with a record worse than the Preds. Yup...for those keeping score at home the Preds now sit in 14th place in the West. 14th!
Okay Poile...time to work some of your magic. Time to shake things up. In with the new out with the old...do something! If we are not going to play Klein then trade him. He does us no good watching the games in a suit.
On the bright side the Preds were 2-5 on the powerplay last night!
I hate goalie controversies. I do. But I think we ride Ellis for a while.
I don't understand the Klein situation. Why is he up if he's always a scratch? I realize that he now has to clear waivers and we'll lose him if sent down, but do something. He needs some decent ice time. Ville doesn't have to clear, so send him down for some playing time and let's see how Kevin does.
FIRE TROTZ NOW!
I wonder if the Klein situation is like the Reechi one...trying to deal him but no takers. It seems like someone would want to take a chance on this kid. Perhaps...we should! I have no clue why he is not getting some PT.
The silence from Poile and Freeman is eerie. Is this acceptable to them?Is it time for Pekka Rinne? Arnott said he wants to be "the man", well, is this all the manhood you've got? Stand up, hit someone, lead like Fitzgerald...ahh, the good old days of hope and optimism and EFFORT!!!
All good points. ARE WE EVERY GONNA GET OFF 30 POINTS? It appears that Scotty is the only one with stones enough to fight anymore. One timer i dont see a goaltender controversy. I see a supposed number 1 goalie not playing worth a darn (cleaned that way up for fear of getting ousted). For the life of me I cannot figure out what is up with Mase. I agree a team meeting seemed in order after the AVs puke jobs. Next thing you know, trotzy will be making them do gassers like at the end of the last 6 game losing streak.
Maybe Trotz needs a pair of the plaid pants and summon some of the 'Miracle' magic into this team. Those guys had heart. I saw several instances last night when a couple of our guys got run at and Hordi was on the ice and did nothing. I realize that Chicago was up 5-2 and it was late in the game but, standup for your teammates, for the love of God stand up for yourselves. It looks like they have lost HEART. Way to go Scott Nichol. You sure do some dumb things out there but, by goodness you got guts! Anyone else want to hold a sign up Sat. night that says "Patrick Roy for Head Coach"? I know that it will never happen but, send a message. And think, I used to be to optimistic one!
