With Timmy Connolly, Jarsoslav Spacek, Derek Roy, and Maxim Afinogenov still out on injuries the Sabres fall to 0-5-5 after a loss in Madison Square Garden to the Rangers. The first period seemed to be owned by the Rangers without a doubt. The boys couldn't get the puck out of their own zone. This time no one can blame Ryan Miller for the loss considering he let two into the net but saved thirty five for the game.
The one guy that seems to show up more than anyone production wise is Jason Pominville it seems. In the past 10 games Pommy has racked up 6 points and seems to be amongst the few that seem to be producing a solid performance.
Brian Campbell has been struggling a bit but has been producing as much as Pominville. He has been aggressive on defense but doesn't seem to be consistent with it. Since the fans in Buffalo are in an uproar about the issues regarding Soupy not being signed when they could have had him, fans have been coming up with some crazy yet seemingly effective ideas to show our front office what they really think.
A caller on a local radio station 103.3 The Edge suggested that at the next home game, everyone going into the game at HSBC arena should bring a can of soup. When security confiscates the can of soup since you aren't allowed to bring them in, the fan will throw the can into a pile of other cans then proceed into the arena. The theory on this idea is that they will have thousands of cans of soup that they would be forced to send to a food drive of some sorts. This act will have a double meaning to the fans and the community about being heard on their disliking of not signing Campbell when they had the chance to just get it done. I say have at it, show Darcy and Larry that we will not let history repeat itself in our front office! We might not call the shots, but we'll let our voices be heard one way or another.
Not to beat an already beaten dead horse, our goaltending is fine, our scoring is horrid. Someone needs to light a fire under these guys soon, we're not too far away from hitting an 8th seed if we can get back into the groove of winning.
The Sabres face the Thrashers here at home this Friday at the HSBC arena. Last time we faced the Thrashers we lost 2-5 in Atlanta. It's time to return the favor and fight our way back into a playoff slot!
Don't get discouraged, everyone hits ruts!
Cheers!
