Derek Roy must of been listening to some old school Smash Mouth over the off season because the 11 points in 4 games he played is insane. His +/- is sitting pretty at +8. Roy is working extremely hard on the ice and is showing to become a leader this year.

I am one to say when I am wrong because it happens and in these cases I am glad I have been wrong so far. I said on many occasions that Derek Roy need to mature to become a captain of the Buffalo Sabres. He's shown that he's all business on the ice as the stats don't lie. He's creating excitement with his teammates which allows them to play a lot better but most importantly, with confidence. Roy is showing everything he needs to show Ruff that he's ready for a "C". If he keeps up I don't see a reason why the most exciting person on the ice for the Sabres that is producing stellar numbers shouldn't be the captain. If he is immature he's damn well not showing it where it counts, and that's all that matters. Business is business, and play time is play time. Derek Roy knows what time it is at all times, let's hope he continues to be the work horse throughout the rest of the season and playoffs.

Cheers!

Be careful about reading too much into the pre-season. Remember when John Sim lead the pre-season in scoring?
