I'm an emotional guy. I am. I cry at Applebee's commericals (you know the one with the coach where they ask him to hang up his team championship photo), baptisms at church, movies (too many to name but most recently watched Rudy again for a good cry!), heck I even got teared up that first home playoff game (man that place was electric!)...so to put it bluntly I am an emotional guy! Luckily I have a wife who doesn't mind if I cry so that's okay.

Last night with four and half minutes to go during the final TV timeout of the game I experienced something I had never experienced before. A loud, sustained, crescendoing standing ovation that nearly took the roof off the Sommet Center! It lasted the entire two minutes and well into the next play. I was...emotional. I was fighting back the tears (mostly because my step-Dad was next to me and he would of thought me a fool!) big time. In those tow minutes you could feel every bit of frustration, every bit of support, every bit of wondering, confusion and every bit of sheer support for the hockey team we almost lost. In that applause was thanks for David Freeman and the local group of new owners, there was applause for Dan Ellis and the year that he has had, there was applause for Rich Peverly filling in, for Barry Trotz who endured a tumultuous year and for David Poile who managed to give the coaches the tools they needed and lastly there was applause for the fans...who stuck with this team all year.

It was emotional...

I had a chance to go to that game but didn't and after watching it on TV, I really regretted it!I'm a partial season ticket holder so at least i've already got my ticket reservations for the two playoff games in the first series.I couldn't be happier and prouder of that team and I hope it quiets all of the nay-sayers out there that doubted Coach Trotz and the players.Coach Trotz should be coach of the year for what he's done. To me, there are few things as exciting in life as a playoff hockey game in Nashville and i've been to all of them so far. I'm not going to miss any either!GO PREDS!On a different note, I wonder what the coaching staff and guys are thinking about tonight's game? I for one don't want to see the San Jose Sharks again. I'd take the Red Wings 10 times over..............

I agree, to think what we almost lost and to be in the playoffs. I still have my reserves about the coaching staff and a few players but, hell we are in the playoffs, the Preds are still in NSH and I'm happy. For once.

We would be the laughingstock of the NHL if we didn't renew Trotz now. He is getting all kinds of kudos around the league, but for some reason, some in this fair town still expect more.

Great night - just a great night. A strong message was sent and I hope to see it continue and to grow. Appreciate the encouragement from other team's fans. Ultimately, its all about the love of hockey. And thanks for the blogs PJ.

i agree on the emotion that was coming from the crowd did indeed reflect the roller coaster ride of the last year. all well deserved. as far as the coaches... ive said on this site several times that i think trotz is at his best in the underdog role. he seems to excel at keeping the team reasonable positive and functional as a unit. he seems to believe and sell team 1st. i think he struggles more in the favorite roll when much is expected. and by the way did anyone else notice him when peverly scored in ot tuesday night. i didnt notice until the highlights they showed last night. trotz actually showed emotion. maybe the 1st real outburst( if you can call a fraction of a second an outburst) ive ever seen from him. it was great.
