The San Jose Sharks are finally winning the games they should win. We have seen this team drop many games to divisional rivals who sit below them in the standings too often. For many years the Sharks have had trouble taking down inferior opponents, but that looks to possibly have changed. Many people have been saying woop-dee-doo they won 4 straight, ha against the Coyotes 3 times and a mediocre Dallas team once. I say this is a big deal. These are games San Jose should be winning, and not just winning, winning decisively like they did against Phoenix.
15-1
That was the total combined score in the 3 games against Phoenix. 4-1, 5-0, 6-0, that is how a team like the Sharks should handle a team like the Coyotes, an absolute dismantling.
4-3 win in Dallas in a shootout
Dallas is the best team in the shootout since it came to life. San Jose did in this game what they have needed for a while now, show some resilience. Instead of flopping and really just losing the game in the 3rd period, they played hard enough to make sure they got a point. In overtime they played like a team who did not want to go to a shootout with Dallas, who can blame them. They dominated the overtime period until the penalty against Douglas Murray. Nabokov gained a ton of confidence by stealing one for his team in the shootout, stopping every shot he faced. Setoguchi and Marleau provided the goals in the shootout that got them the 2 points.
If the Sharks can keep this up, and that includes against the better teams, we may see the team that this staff has envisioned. Whether they do or do not against the more premier teams is up in the air until they prove otherwise. For the time being, at least it looks as though they are ready to start taking the games they should be taking.
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend ! GO SHARKS !
