Fox Sportsnet took a big step in the right direction this month! Fox Sports Bay Area announced that it will carry 30 out of market NHL games this season. It will pick up feeds from Comcast Sportsnet Chicago, Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic, and Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia. That means we will be able to watch Blackhawks, Capitols, and Flyers games on FSN Bay Area. Comcast has taken the first big step in bringing more hockey to more homes in the Bay Area. Most games will begin early, 4:00 pm PST, so that will give us Center Iceless hockey bums something to watch before Sharks games begin.

We have groaned and complained about the media bringing us more hockey and they must have listened. The hockey fan base in the Bay Area is huge, but is often overlooked. We have many people doing great things to promote the sport here in the Bay Area, and it seems to be working out well. HockeyBuzz has given hockey junkies all over the world a place to go to get some of the greatest info and news, by terrific writers, and hockey analysts. It is being felt here in the Bay Area as more and more Sharks fans turn to HockeyBuzz to get info from writers like, Ryan Garner for their Sharks info, and all the other bloggers for the rest of what they are looking for around the NHL. The San Jose Sharks HockeyBuzz Talkcast has started to take off, and more and more listeners are tuning in every show.

The Mercury News has given us more Sharks news this season from writers like, David Pollak (San Jose Sharks beat writer), Marc Emmons, and Mark Purdy. All the hard work has not gone overlooked by the fans who seem to be much happier with the number of different outlets now available to them. For years Sharks fans have had nowhere to turn to talk hockey or get daily doses of info from passionate writers. Now they do.

A huge thanks goes out to FSN Bay Area for giving hockey fans in the Bay Area a place to see more games, without having to dish out their hard earned money for a subscription service to watch the sport they love.

Everyone enjoy the extra hockey this season and tonights game! Be sure to thank all the writers and bloggers and fans who continue to speak out on behalf of the sport we all are so passionate about!

Thanks for reading and have a great day! GO SHARKS!

Gotta keep pushing for more and better TV coverage everywhere. More games, better analysts and commentators, more HD broadcasts, not only because it enhances the game considerably, but also so that we can capture more casual fans who might actually see the puck on HD. Thanks for your continued input and blogs Nc/Capt Shark.

Having the Center Ice package makes this move moot, but I do agree that anything that is done to show off Hockey in the Bay Area is a good thing. Victor Chi wrote good articles about the Sharks for the Merc, but I agree with your assessment that the coverage this year is much improved. Go Sharks!!
