We continue our reviews of prior Leafs drafts with the 1985 draft held in Toronto on June 15, 1985.

Legend: GP=Games Played, G= Goals, A= Assists, PTS= Points,
W= Wins, L= Losses, T= Ties, GAA=Goals Against Average, SO= Shutouts

1st Overall Pick- Wendel Clark (Defensemen)

Leafs Regular Season Stats: GP- 608 G- 260 A- 181 PTS- 441
Leafs Playoff Stats: GP- 79 G- 34 A- 27 PTS- 61

NHL Regular Season Stats: GP- 793 G- 330 A- 234 PTS- 564
NHL Playoff Stats: GP- 95 G- 37 A- 32 PTS- 69

Review- Clark was the heart and soul of the franchise and the Leafs did not go wrong with this pick the former Leaf captain did all that was asked of him. He played as if he was 10 feet tall which lead to numerous trips to the IR. Clark sits 15th in Leafs all time scoring and is the top scoring left winger in Leafs playoff history. Clark had five 30 goal seasons and a memorable 46 goal season in which he played in only 64 games. O what a career it was and what could it have been for the Leaf legend who had his number honored this season at the ACC.

Notable Players Drafted after: Ulf Dahlen, Craig Simpson, Joe Nieuwendyk

Review- Never played a game with the Leafs and not much with anyone else, in what would be a second round pick today didn't amount to much.

Leafs Regular Season Stats: GP- 11 G- 1 A- 0 PTS- 1

NHL Regular Season Stats: GP- 11 G- 1 A- 0 PTS- 1

Review- This former Toronto Marlboro got into a few games with the team scoring a goal, highlight of his career.

Notable Players Drafted after: Igor Larionov

Draft Review: D-

The Leafs also drafted Ken Spangler, Greg Vey, Tim Bean, Andy Donahue, Todd Whittemore and Mitch Murphy in the 1985 draft none of the players played an NHL game so all get a rating of an E.

The 1985 draft gave the franchise an all time Leaf great in Wendel Clark and not much else. The 1985 draft was a weak one for the team as all players drafted besides Clark played a total of 170 games, around 2 seasons for a total of 11 players.

The teams manager once again for the 1985 draft was Gerry McNamara and for those of you wondering the best player in the draft was Joe Nieuwendyk.

Does the grade D- even exist? Why not just give an F? Other than Clark (who is my favorite in Sega NHL 94 and 95) I would say that every player on here was an NHL failure. This is my honest opinion and not an attempt to troll.
