The Flyers sweep the Devils in a home and home? When was the last time that happened? I bet it was back when the Devils were still a "Mickey Mouse" team. Funny that team we could never beat with the goalie that owns the Flyers, gets beat by a team that hasn't won a game all year. Marty Brodeur never loses to the Flyers until this year, what changed? His mask has changed. From always being a team guy with the NJD logo on his mask to his initials. So Marty first loses.
Anyway back to real hockey. The Flyers are winning because they are playing with passion. The really good news is that the opening run of games against the best teams in the league is over. This means that the Flyers have a soft spot in the schedule sometime soon. From a hockey point of view, the passion equates to forwards backchecking, defensemen clearing the crease, and goaltending that makes key saves. It really is that simple.
Go Flyers!
FCK PHILLY! There fans are so unclassy, Im so sick of it.
Tweaterben - You're sick of the Philly fans, but you use expletives to express it? Throw stones at glass houses much?Secondly, the person who actually threw the smoke bomb was a classless moron who deserved to be thrown out. And when Lou Nolan made the announcement "You point him out, we'll throw him out" - the Philly fans you call "unclassy" cheered that statement. No one in the building approved of the smoke bomb being thrown. Our seats are in the lower bowl opposite the visitor's bench, and fans on that side of the building were trying to point out the culprit. I don't know whether he was found, but the majority of those present in the building wanted to see the guy tossed. One person doesn't make an entire city classless.
Philly fans are passionate and expect nothing short of the best effort you have to offer. You want to talk about class, look at Jason Smith last year. Every fan in the building knew he was hurt and giving everything he had to play every night. Not one boo or bad thing said about him. Now let's look back to a player in say Toronto or Ottawa. Larry Murphy in Toronto was booed everytime he touched the puck. So they traded him to Pittsburgh. Hmmm Stanley Cup. Then off to Detroit, Stanley Cup. Ottawa fans hated Wayne Redden last year. I read all over this site and others what a bum he is. Funny he looks pretty damn good in NY so far. Maybe the Philly fans are not unclassy, maybe just better educated on the effort and not the result!!!
At least we're educated.."Their" not "there"lol :)
Also Philadelphia is singular not plural. The smoke bomb guy could have done that in any arena. He was essentially a terrorist just thankfully without a deadly result.
I could see this really tough beginning to the season ending up being a good thing, in the last two games they seem to have realized all the little things that win games. The effort all over the ice has been much better. Too bad I was hoping they would trade a forward to Van for a defencemen. :)
